Yes, Dr Chen is still practicing and he now has a young cute female dentist, she did my crown replacement and I would recommend her.
My friend had Dr Chen do his crown and and he was happy with his work and you certainly can't complain about the prices.

I had him pull a tooth for 35 mil several months ago, but I called last month and he said he was retired, didn't mention if the office still existed, but I only wanted to see him if I was going there, so I went to Costa Rica Dental Team, recommended here, not as cheap as Chen, but good quick job and professional as well.

I "heard" Little Habana only charges like $50 or $60 a night, several sources, central between SL, Castillo and Taormina, and has it's own little group of attendees available mostly in the afternoons, give them a call if you want to be central, visitors allowed, good bar food, I've never stayed there but heard good things for the price.

I like the Sonador and it's much cheaper and in a better location than HLH.
If you have Costa Rica phone service, could you please dial and see if you get anyone to answer, the free service I tried might be the problem
Sonador 011 506 2222 1747
Thanks

I like HLH, it’s fun, convenient and inexpensive, but the rooms are basic and very noisy. Most of the chicas are a bit gorda.

If you're going to stay a month or more, there's always "Vista Linda" in Calle Blancos, a cheap Uber or bus ride to downtown, working class Tico hood, clean, not a thug area, surrounded by tall security fence, many furnished one bedrooms for a bit over $500 a month, no deposit needed.

Not modern or classy but clean and basic, a good place to live cheap if you're here for a month on a budget or want to stay a month or two and see what life is like outside of hotels if you're contemplating retiring here.

I spent my first month of retirement bliss here while taking my time looking for an apartment that would suit my discerning tastes... 8)

Good choice, I live out here nearby in Escazu.

Plenty of shopping, excellent restaurants, clean, relatively safe, I walk all over Escazu, Sabana, Rohmoser.

A short strut down to KFC on Paseo Colon, go down a couple blocks behind it, there you will find "Oasis", an MP that's stood the test of time for decades, almost always at least one decent hottie there, prices similar to Monica's, which, by the way, you can Uber to quickly from here without fighting downtown traffic.

Enjoy your stay, hopefully not too painful in the mouth or wallet, your dental visit, lol...

Thank you for the Google shot Netgems. I tried the web-site a couple of times and is inoperable but the photos help.

I stayed at HLH a couple times around 2008. One time was the room right next to the bar! It wasn't too noisy and I think they closed the bar at 11PM at night.

I keep telling everyone just g**gle "bachelor pad jaco airbnb" , it cuts through the usual filters and pulls up a bunch of units right in the center of town, take your pick of any of em.

Yeah, you keep telling everyone that over and over again, but this thread is about cheap hotels in SAN JOSE when having dental work done. Kind of a rough commute.
