Headed down first week of December, 1st time to CR but battle hardened at mongering in other parts of the world.

Wanted to make a reservation at Amistad. Had a great conversation with Rudy there and he suggested Castillo as it is "nicer" in his opinion. Thoughts?

I used to stay at La Amistad until the Castillo opened.

I now stay at the Castillo.

I like the bar at La Amistad slightly better (more intimate) but that's such a slight 'slightly' that it's not a deal breaker. La Amistad has a different menu and both locations have entrees I like. You can always walk over and drink / eat at La Amistad.

I like the rooms at the Castillo better (but I'd still stay at La Amistad).

Thank you! Do you have any trouble getting talent to come back with you to Castillo? Do you just grab an Uber or the like?

No. The Castillo is technically closer to the HDR (and a bit farther from the SL than the Amistad) but no.

Why would you (have problems)?

To ianplay's question, there have been at times chicas that wont leave the HDR because they want to churn and burn at HDR only. I havent had that come up with a chica in awhile though, so probably a non issue. Make sure you tell them what hotel you end up staying at in case they are banned for whatever reason. Sportsmen is more restrictive with door security.
The chica will tell you if she cant go in because no point in making the cab ride and not getting in for a payday for no reason.

Pay a little bit extra at Castillos and you may snag a room with a big porch overlooking the zoo/park, those are fantastic and they say no smoking on the porch but I hear it's ignored, especially late at night.

Ask about the price diff on those and if one is open when you come. If you don't think it's that much diff, I recommend, they're sweet and quieter because only one room butts up against them and no trains...

You're also allowed to eat at both if you get the room/meals deal.

porque no los dos?

IMO
Amistad is more social if you like connecting with like minded guys... Train may be a factor if you are a light sleeper... hotel has an old house charm to it, but need renovation

Castillo is more sterile if you like to be left alone.... birds replace the train in the morning... hotel is recently renovated, but lacks charm

both are great

Castillo room #23 is the king suite with balcony overlooking the zoo. #18 on the ground floor does also. my preference is the penthouse suites. there are 3.

So how are the queen or king rooms at La Amistad? Coming to SJ in February.

Bearing in mind that I used to semi-exclusively stay at La Amistad before shifting to the Castillo, those rooms are like the rest of La Amistad - quirky but fine.
