My wing man and I stayed in La Amistad for a couple of days about a month ago. This was the first time I am staying there as on all previous trips we stayed at the Del. The Del is great for the convenience of the spread available downstairs, but the rooms leave a lot to be desired. This trip we wanted something laid back.
La Amistad was a great, people talk about the hotel being old, but I felt it was finished to have that rustic look. We decided to get the queen room as the penthouse suite was booked. The room was cozy and much better than the Del. The bar set up was real nice and we made quite a few friends even with the guy that had booked the PH suite and we got to go up there and have a party.
No ticas around unless they are accompanying someone staying at the hotel but this suited us just fine as we were comfortable enough to pull from either Sportsman or the Del.
I cant say enough about the all inclusive package! It was soo good! We arrived late the first night the restaurant was closed so the first meal we had was the breakfast and that was very ordinary and we were regretting it but come lunch time when we saw the menu we scoffed at first wondering if the cook actually knew how to make the items listed on the menu but man the food was AMAZING! The bar was open late and Carol or Karol the bartender was a happy person and genially interested in making conversation.
We even got to go to the Castillo to taste the food there and we had some delicious octopus but could not see the rooms. Castillo seemed like a newly renovated hotel but somehow i liked the rustic quaint feel for the La Amistad. I'm hooked! Overall more than pleased with the La Amistad, definitely making it my go to place for future visits.
I loved the ambience and vibe here too, during my single stay at L.A. Everything about it. It made me feel like I had "arrived", as though, "this is what I do, I have made it big with business, and now I stay at tropical-feeling hotels like this at my leisure".
