I hear HC is without water since Wednesday night's storm. That also means no toilet or shower. Imagine bringing over a chica and having no water. If you have an upcoming reservation, better call ahead to check the water status. Unless you don't shower neither does your tica afterwards.

The water worked Wednesday night.

The power was off in parts of the hotel Wednesday afternoon / evening for a while the electrian changed something.

I had to leave early Thursday to come back to the jungle but I had water to brush my teeth.

You heard? Or you know?

They will provide bottled water, as much as you need in that situation ... not ideal but I have stayed there 9 times over the past year and water was shut down by the city once but Amistad had water since it is by the hospital.
Yes that one time sucked for 8 hours but we managed

It is normal a few years back the downtown area was without power for at least 3 days. All power is under ground with a lot of rain downtown it will be without power unless it's ran on a generator. Back than KL and NYB and a few lights in the DL was without for at least 3 days

Again.not normal. Downtown San Jose has never lost power for 3 days in recent memory.
Now a few yrs back in drought times they would shut off the water for a certain time period to conserve. But most hotels have a backup tank. Never a 3 day power outage.

So, it's 22 September and this "I hear" post was made on 6 September.

A post as credible as a 35-year-old BS "OMFGWTFBBG! that evil man touched me!!!!" allegation. After all the interesting poo slinging over whether there's ever been a water outage or the electricity ever goes out in San Jose, not one single post about the dire calamity of a water-less Castillo - because there wasn't.

I suggest that if people are going to make these posts they need to cite actual specifics based on actual observations - example: "On 22 September I checked into Hotel ____________ and discovered my room had no _________. The front desk / manager / owner told me ____________________ and it came on _____ hours later. Or: It never came on for my three day stay and management told me to Phuck off. Or whatever.

Costa Rica isn't the United States, but even in the US there are situations where, for one reason or another, the water gets turned off or becomes unusable or where the power goes out for hours - days - longer.

Our city water at home was contaminated by bacteria (the fecal kind). No bathing, washing clothes & dishes or drinking it for about a week while the water utility solved the issue. Had to boil water to use it. Toilet was (obvio) no issue. No laundry. Showers were 'whore's baths' with a bucket and soap. Used paper plates. We had to m-a-n-a-g-e. In 'murica.

Before that, after a hurricane we had no power for two weeks. I was on a well. No electricity, no water. Finally was able to snag a generator so I could have cold running water, but when I ran the pump I couldn't run lights, etc.

In the Central Valley services generally work. Mi novia has had water shutdown when AyA (water utility) works on the lines. Our power goes out all the time in the jungle but I have a big ass diesel generator. I've seen ICE (power company) flip the switch on a block to fix some issue (Zona 2 used to have a generator because of this).

So, it happens in Costa Rica and it happens in the US (and probably Canada, but they're all polite about it). But its infrequent.

THeyvare changing the sewer and water pipes in the area and we occasionally get pressure problems for a short period. We installed a tank and pump
