Don’t really want to take the bus from the airport to Jaco Beach. Have inquired about private transportation to our hotel but looks like it will be $130 for all three of us. Is uber and option or bite the bullet and take the private.. it would get us there the quickest which is what we want.. we land at 1130a Sunday... we could take a shuttle but they don’t leave the airport til about 2p.. any thoughts? |

Split the $130, make him stop & get beer & make him stop at Tarcoles Bridge so you can see the crocs if you haven't seen them before. If you take Interbus, you better hope you are picked up last as they make 5 or 6 stops at hotels for other passengers. Ridiculous how long Interbus takes!! CostaReeker |

Cool thanks.. it is interbus. But since it is private it should only be us and should not make any stops unless we tell them to if I’m not mistaken |

Uber will be less than $130, closer to $80. Many Uber drivers in CR use smaller cars, might be tight for 3 and luggage. The private transportation option is probably a van. I would not use Interbus for three. As noted it can take considerably longer. In my experience up to twice as long - why I only used it once. And the total for three is going to be more than the private option. |

The bus costs around $4 and takes an average of 2.5 hours. Taxi is about $130-$150 and takes a little over 1.5 hours on average. If you take the bus, keep a close eye on all your stuff and put your arm or leg through luggage or backpack strap if possible. |

The airport is considerably less time to Jaco than from downtown SJ...and I'm thinking it should not be hard to find a cab that would take you for the $130 that Interbus will charge (if I'm reading the post right). Also I don't think Interbus does private pickups...but I could be wrong on that. When a hotel says private with Interbus, it generally means Interbus will pick you up, along with other people at other hotels, and drop you off at your hotel, and the others at theirs. |

If you have to take the bus from the airport to downtown, then change to an Jaco bus that’s two trips through all the traffic. Much better to find an option direct from the airport to Jaco. I consider Interbus and private transportation very different services. Interbus is private in that it is not public transportation, but it is “shared” with other tourists. Interbus lists the SJ to Jaco rate at $44 per person. That would be a bad option for three people as it takes much longer. Four of us once hired the Cocal van to SJ for $120. It was great. The airport is closer to Jaco than downtown and I would think it would be cheaper. |

At the airport after you come out of customs, on the right side is the official taxi desk. they have large SUVs or vans and it should cost about $100 to $120 to Jaco. They will also let you pay with a credit card. |

My last two trips, my wing and I just walked outside to the taxi area and got rides to Jaco easily. First time we landed around 3PM and got transportation in a white van for $90. Last time, it was in a car for $80 around 6:30PM. There seems to be alot of drivers competing for customers, so you should be fine. Keep in mind this is in November though. |
