I’ve been reading these boards for months trying to soak up as much info as possible. Now I have my next newbie questions; both LA Amistad and Sportsman's are booked for the time frame I am looking to go to CR. It’s my fault as I was focused more on finding a flight that I thought the room would be available at at least one of the two of them. So with my two main options out, what you would suggest my number three and four options should be ? Everything I read here is not to stay at the HDR.

Hotel Castillo (sister hotel of La Amistad). Zona II. Hotel Taormina. All no chica fee.

depending on length of trip and dates you might be able to move amongst your choices
most of us either moved from one room to another during our stays
do a couple of days in one place and move to the other
SL and LA are only a block away from each other

I'm planing for five days. My first trip and getting my feet wet. The rates for Hotel Taormina are the same each night and a little consistency would be better for me.

Taormina rooms and breakfast were good
There is a very hot maid too:)
And at night there used to be ladies in the bar so no need to go out
This was 6 months ago though:)

as has been said a thousand times here be aware of the courtyard rooms at SL
those are really loud and in the belly of the beast
you can literally open your door and step directly to a bar stool
chances are you would need to move at least once if staying there but thats not that big of a deal
jmho but knowing all those places down there the SL is a pretty special place
never forget my first trip and staying right by the front desk lol
might not have been perfect but i wasn't complaining
sort of like a right of passage  8)
