Sorry to jump in here, but I've been looking for info on getting a local phone. I know the how and where, I just can't find info on the quality...I guess I only need to be able to access WhatsApp and the internet. I'm overthinking this.

No, I'm not staying there, I'm staying down the street in a private apartment. But I am partaking of their bar, table games, and women. So can anyone provide me with their Wifi password or is it a state secret that requires a special handshake and a Morse code wink/blink, while dancing naked under the light of the full moon and simultaneously holding a sacrificed chicken? |

If you sit at the bar and order a drink for yourself and the bartender she should give you the password I would think or even one of the girls sitting around gazing at their phones would give it to you for the price of a drink . At least that is what i have found. |

why do you need wifi? get a local phone and you'll have unlimited internet. |

I always get Claro and the quality is pretty good, especially for our purposes. You just need to use it for Whatsapap, texting, FB, and a few calls. I've had Kolbi too and it's not as good. |

Claro and Movistar, unfortunately, do not cover all of Costa Rica. Kolbi does (more-than-less). |
