I used to stay a few times at Bestwestern downtown that has an out door pool but it was never warm enough to swim in it. I would like to be able to get up about 11:00AM and do my laps in the pool for exercise but it just never happened.

is there not any hotels at all n downtown that has decent pool u can hook up and hang out with a chica during the day and the bar u never see anything about it on here i assume the hotels not nice enough to have a big pool or something...just wondering thanks for the insight seems dr would be perfect if they had one |

San Jose has never struck me as a place that I want to hang out by the pool...weather is not quite hot enough for me to really feel that it is important. |

Best Western-Irazu has a nice pool but I would wait for summer. Never had a problem with chicas. About 1000c taxi. |

Everything is relative. Living in Miami for 25 years will never find a pool in San Jose that I would consider warm enough for swimming. Guys who live in the north part of the US or in Canada might think the water in the pools in San Jose is warm. Depends on your comfort level and the conditions you are accustom to. |

The Best Western Irazu and Casa Conde, both near downtown, have decent pools. The Holiday Inn, next to the Parque Morazon, has an indoor pool on the second (or third?) floor. |

The pool at Aparthotel el Sesteo is OK, but cool is not the issue. It may be the tropics, but until you get going (I used to swim laps in my youth) the water is cold. You are at 1km in altitude, and the high temp for the year is around 85F. For much of the year the high is in the 70's and the low is in the 50's. I keep seeing threads where rookies are worried if there is A/C. Except for in the DR, in an inside room, the only real use I've seen for A/C in San Jose is as a white noise generator, where it is sometimes invaluable. |

Veelee, I have to strongly disagree with you about not needing the A/C. There are many guys who I have talked to that won't stay in a hotel without an A/C. I will not stay in a hotel without an A/C in the room. I guess I'm hot blooded and requires a cool temperature. Our bodies have diiferent levels of tolerence toward temperature so I can see why some of you may never need to stay in a room without an A/C. |

Ok, I'm surprised. As long as there is decent ventilation, usually the ceiling fan is fine, and it is rarely needed. Maybe you should try the Castillo or one of the other places in Amon that gets a breeze. I'm usually in CR in July-August or December, so that may have some effect on my response. |

Well, I was one of those guys who felt like I needed A/C....but I was pleasantly surprised that not having it was not an issue this past weekend. |

Everyone has their own needs and comfort levels, would never disagree with someone who needs to have a/c to be comfortable. However, find that about 90% of guys find that a ceiling fan is very adequate. Lived in Miami for 25 years before moving here, for me no a/c no fan. YMMV |

I agree that ventilation is the answer. I have been living here for a year and a half and never turned on the AC which I have. However when I used to vacation in SJ I always used the AC in the stuffy warm rooms mostly at the Morazan hotel. |
