Just seems like there aren't that many great airfare deals going down to SJO these days. I am in Dallas, and can't find a fare lower than the low to mid $400's between now and June or so.

I just got back from a trip this weekend, and paid $440 on Continental (via Houston).

I was able to redeem some miles for an AA direct flight from DFW to SJO for 5/20-5/22, so it's nice to have one in the bag.

What is the general consensus as to the state of the airfare prices down to C.R right now?

Right now the flight schedules to CR are brutal. Totally brutal from Chicago. Prices are higher than I have seen in quite some time as well. I can only blame it on "high season" in Costa Rica. I looked at some dates further out in March and April and things are back to normal.

I've been trying to schedule something in late Feb. or March but the flights and price are ridiculous. So, I guess this time I'm going to bite the bullet and go to the Dominican. I can actually fly out of my hometown airport to the Dominican on Delta for what it costs for a sh*tty flight to CR. Flight times are much better as well. So, I guess CR must wait until April. :(

Yes, I too have seen the price hike for the coming two months or so. I just paid $420 for a flight from ATL in March and I have seen them on my previous two trips for as low as $280.

High season, my friend.

but you are correct, I have noticed prices going up as well......this is a special...

Heading down next week. $333.15 RT from Boston area. October $292. 35 RT (whats the 15 & 35 cents about) Check out the fares for xmas around the end of Samara Santa. Last year TACA had a $441.00 RT flight on a blackout day. Delta had a $551.00 RT on sale in FEB. for Xmas week.
Its like being at the DR. you have to shop around and not JUMP at the first flight that comes along. Then when you think you have it all figured out. The airlines promote a 24 hour 4 seat sale $238.00 RT. Have to be flexable or comitted.

USAir has just started a webfare sale. I'm looking at an unheard of price of 234.00 weekdays between Mar. 29-Apr. 28th. (302.00 w/taxes)
I never fly them as I use Delta and Continental miles but at this price I may make the connection thru Charlotte for a change. 8)

where are you finding that flight price (what is your departure city)

Out of Chicago O'Hare cheapest I can find for those dates is 337.65 with all taxes, my United flight is cheaper and a direct flight outbound, 1 stop in Dulles returning...$331.00

You can find a reasonable price (albeit a bit higher than normal) but what was the flight schedule CG? I saw lots or red eye flights w/overnight stays. How bad is that? Just not a good time to find a flight to CR.

Found this on Sidestep….NON STOP on the way there….$331.00 pretty good deal…..only an extra ½ to an hour back than normal through Dulles….all the rest are $396 through Delta American, etc….

Well you guys are lucky out of PR all i can find is $416 which i dont think is so bad but if i could find something lower it would make all the difference in the world.

Maybe I should move to Miami/FLL. Seems fares are always reasonable no matter where I might be looking to go.
