I'm looking to visit mid Sept. Where would everyone recommend staying? I'm looking at SL, Zona, LA they also recommended their new penthouses at the Castillo.
Also I was planning to go to Jaco for a night or two. Which is better for Chicas Cocal or Crocs? Cocal is only showing availability at the Vista Mar on their website. Any transportation recommendations?
One more newbie question. Should I pay Chicas in USD or CRC?

Thanks to all....

Taking my second trip this sept. 28- oct 3 rd. As a newbie staying at the sportsmens is just easy. Lots of cool guys around. Chicas at the bar and The staff takes care of you. That's where I am staying again because I am going solo. Always pay, and negotiate in local currency! You'll come out ahead $.

The Cocal website does not include availability for Cocal, only Vista Mar. I know, it doesn’t make sense. You have to call or email the Hotel. There are numbers listed on their website or cocalcr@racsa.co.cr Last time I made my reservation entirely by email.

I would expect they would have rooms available for Green Season (the CR euphemism for rainy season) in mid Sept. I don’t notice much difference in the number of chicas at Cocal in rainy season, they still have bills to pay.

I did stay in a poolside room in May. The poolside bar is now open on weekends, with DJ and loud music until 2 am. If you have plans to sleep before then I would not recommend poolside. I booked a courtyard (parking lot) room for my stay in two weeks Sept 8-10.

Just to clarify, the only place to find chicas in Jaco is Cocal. You have the choice of then taking your find back to Crocs or other chica friendly hotels. I haven’t stayed at Crocs, but the consensus seems to be it is nicer than Cocal. I like the convenience of just walking to my room, instead of a taxi to another hotel. But, personal choice.

Pay in local or US,Hotel mango mar is next door to cocal, much cheaper but basic, request top floors, Sportsmans good choice for first visit , I enjoy the food and bar at Amistad a little more.

No brainer, SL in my opinion.

LA if you like unlimited alcohol and food for higher rates
Cocal if you want to spend more money but have highest putang count
Both San Jose and Jaco you won't have problems getting laid
San Jose has mps for daytime action.
Jaco does not.

In SJ? The Castillo (1) and La Amistad (2). With the all-inclusive you save a ton (booze, chow and even laundry).

And awesome chow. EDITED.

And with Castillo you get new rooms (the SL EDITED: HAS BEEN RENOVATED). I believe the LA has been / is being refreshed.

If you want nice, but don't care about spending for booze and food, the Taormina (3). Which has a killer breakfast also.

ETA: The SL is also very nice - and of course, there are chicas in the bar. They are a CRT VIP sponsor also, which the Taormina isn't anymore.

In Jaco? I've only stayed at Los Suenos.

we didn't stay at SL but we were in there every night, so it seems smart to stay there if the price is right. I did get a tour of the penthouse and it was pretty sweet so maybe I'll consider it down the road if I have a wingman traveling with
