Post subject:  Spirit fraud?

I'm looking for a one-way ticket for a family member and Ch*ld coming back from CR to NY for early to mid September. They have outbound tickets already.

Spirit shows a fare of $339 for both tickets on Google Flights. But when you click through to their website, it shows $390.

And e4ven sites like Orbits, Expedia, Travelocity, etc have the flight listed at $355. But when you fill out all the info and click "BUY", a message pops up saying that the price has increased from $355 to $400. It happens on all the sites ALL the time. Is this the typical Spirit bait and switch?

That's not just with Spirit. I noticed the same thing with Copa. To check it, just now, I looked at a r/t flight between Orlando and Medellin. Google Flights listed it for $692. When I clicked on the Copa link from Google Flights, the fare was over $1200.

I think the problem is with the travel sites, not the airlines.

AeroMexico did the same thing to me & I called & asked WTF? According to the CSR, I had to pay an extra $20 to select a seat now for a November trip to Guatemala. In order to avoid the $20/seat selection fee, I could wait till 24 hours before the flight to purchase the ticket but take a chance on the flight being full or the price of the ticket increasing! What a scam!! F Aeromexico!!!

Sounds very similar to many airlines out of here... if you don't do advance seat selection for the fee you can wait to 24 hours before the flight and then select based on what is left (for free...doing advance check-in online). I always take that chance...never had a problem.

I would have done that but was unable to complete purchase unless I selected & paid $20/seat each way.

I went thru Travelocity & bought the ticket without the fee but have no seat assigned.
