Hello guys,

I'm going to San Jose in two weeks. I'm interested in a few hotels but La amistad really attracts me more because of the all inclusive packages. I was quoted $134 for a penthouse all include with food a drinks. I know everyone is different but is that a pretty good deal? I was looking at the sportmans as well close by. It's over $100 a night with no nothing.

Also how is the girl situation at La amistad?

Thanks

Do the all inclusive and make sure you get the pork chop. It is so thick it takes an hour to cook. I always call ahead and let them know what time I am arriving and to have it in the oven ahead of time. Since I keep a phone number in Costa Rica as soon as I clear customs I phone ahead and remind them I am on my way. Also the Tuna Tartare is a meal in itself but since I cannot choose between the 2 I get them both.

Can't go wrong with Amistad - good deal with the all-inclusive & staff are great. I like the atmosphere, a little more laid back, easy to meet & make friends. That said, my next trip I will spend a few days at SL just to say I've stayed there.

Just a note, the top floor penthouse can be a hike, if you can get the one below it, with the mezzanine... sorry, don't recall the room numbers. Just IMHO

Amistad or SL both excellent. Penthouse all inclusive wins out after many stays in both.the deal beaker for me is the mattress. Unless SL has gotten the foam matresses I would go with the penthouse.

I have stayed at both the Sportsman and Amistad many times. Since La Amistad started the all inclusive package I only stay there. You can't beat the deal, especially when you like to drink like I do.
Can't go wrong. You will love it.

That's odd. I was told the penthouses were sold out during these dates

Cancellations can and do occur on a Dailey basis. Also by the time he makes up his mind it may be gone.

Thanks for all the quick replies guys. I talk to the guys in La Amistad and they were really nice so I booked an all inclusive penthouse at their hotel. Sportman was going to be a little bit cheaper but can't beat the free food and drinks. Again thanks a lot and I'll be around from the 17th to the 22th of August. So maybe I'll see a few of you mongering out there. Ha!

Since no one answered this question - the policy at the Amistad is no unescorted ladies are allowed past the front desk.
