First off, I love this forum and am glad that I found it well in advance of my trip down there come July 21. I am coming in with a buddy of mine who has been there twice this year so I guess he's my guide along with meeting up with a few of you CRT members once I get down there. He stayed at HLH last trip and he raved about it so he booked a 2 BR suite for our trip. He did tell me a few stories about the outside of the hotel that had me saying WTF? Anyway, I'm still a little confused as to the layout/relationship of HLH and Zona II but I guess I will figure it out once I am down there. I tried to talk him into LA or SL but he's hell bent on staying at HLH and tells me that I won't like staying at SL due to the noise levels. I'm a pretty laid back guy just looking to enjoy my time in CR so I don't care where we stay. I'm not worried about the "seedy area" that HLH is in but am more annoyed if I have to deal with harassment as I go in and out of the hotel.

Any thoughts on the HLH on location and what I'm gonna be facing? Am I just over analyzing it all?

You're overanalyzing it.

there is no issue entering/leaving Zona or HLH at any particular time. It's not a seedy area, and in fact, no different from the LA, SL, or HDR areas. They are all within 3 blocks of one another ... give or take.

You got a suite at HLH? I don't think they have suites. Zona II has suites. Zona II is the place on the corner and HLH (is it even open?) is up the block past Zona II. I think you may be booked at Zona II.

Either way, there are no issues with the area outside the door. During the day, no problems. At night, there may be trannies across the street but they won't bug you. But you should watch your back everywhere in San Jose at night. No walking around after midnight anywhere. There are brave lads who walk around solo at 3am, and nothing has ever happened to them, until it does. But I don't want to re-start this discussion so need to post how brave you are.

Yeah, find out where you really are staying. The hotel that was HLH was split into multiple businesses. I'm with Orange, you are probably staying at Zona II. If so, no need to change a thing.

Your friend is giving you a heads up to mind your surroundings. There is a lot of WTF to be seen and found and that applies well beyond the area you'll be in. It's all part of the charm, enjoy.

Then again you mention a 2 BR suite... does Zona II have such a thing?

Yes, only 1 of the 4 has 1 BR, the other 3 have 2 BR I believe.

Thanks everyone! I was trying to tell him that it's the Zona II after reading through he information on CRT and doing a quick Google search but he says it is definitely HLH. I'm gonna join the camp of "pretty sure it's Zona II" but the name makes no difference to me.

I am definitely looking forward to that "charm" and the WTF moments as that is part of travel no matter where you go. Is it July 21 yet??

The business known as HLH was already closed when I made my first trip in 2013.

But your friend has been to SJ twice this year... and believes you are booked at HLH??

You might very well be his guide before your trip ends.

HAHA! It might turn out to be just that! With the amount of time I have spent reading the posts on this forum and searching online I feel like I am ahead of the game a little bit. Still very much a newbie and am not one to get cocky! I just want to come down there and enjoy my weekend getaway.

HLH and Zona2 were one outfit till it was split in two by putting up a wall between them.

If you have a bedroom suite at HLH you should ask the bar for the discount for any girl you pick up from there. I believe the girls there charge $50/hour.

If you are at Zona2 you are eligible for a discount on the girls at that bar. Make sure you ask Jimmy what the discounted rate is for you.

No breakfast at both I believe but stroll one block down to Hotel Toarmina on Ave 11.

So part of that building is operating as HLH now? And they have chicas?

Is it the part that Scores occupied? If yes I liked the rooms.

I'm confused...

Yes it is the old Scores with the bar and girls. Some of the old ones and some new.
I think the rooms too should be the same.

I'm confused...

Scores reopened as "Little Havana", I believe. So "HLH" is once again an active nom de guerre.

Ok then... I was in the latest incarnation early this year. Bar was open but the hotel was not. Must have been early days because I don't recall a HLH sign even.
