That says CRC 49,990 from the HdR (it wouldn't give me a pick up at the SL). The SL's " MOPT approved" drivers charge $120 (up to three in the van for that price).

Of course the bus is cheaper.

The bus is comfortable . . . . about 2,500 colones ($5).

It usually takes 15-20 minutes longer than a car, but that depends on the SJ traffic.

If you sleep on the bus be sure to keep your belongings on your lap and do not use the over head storage areas if the bus has them, also do not keep you stuff on the floor as you might have someone behind you pilfer your shit. Riding the bus is a fun way to get around, just keep the mentality of everyone wants to steal my stuff, and you will be fine. If you are over 6 feet tall you will be cramped if you cannot get 2 seats to yourself or are not sitting with a smaller tica.

Good tip on the bus- watch your stuff. Had a friend put a $2k camera overhead and it walked off while he was sleeping

He put a $2000 camera in the overhead on a bus and then went to sleep?

That is a great site. But I have a couple questions if anyone knows. They say that someone will take your luggage and stick it in the storage area underneath. Shouldn't I be worried about theft if my bags are in the storage area? Also is it difficult to figure out what bus to board (from 7-10 station) if I don't read/understand Spanish.

Well of course not, he didn't have the camera anymore to repeat his mistake. LOL

Re: "Bus is comfortable"... comfortable is a relative term.

I'm 6 feet tall and I wasn't comfortable. And on the early evening bus back, the windows were all open and it got colder, and I got sick as a dog. Couldn't move my neck for 3 days.

Did you ever use Uber from San Jose to Jaco? If so, how was your experience?

I'm heading down to Jaco during Thanksgiving and I'm weighing Uber vs. Interbus for my transfer.
