Going to CR for only second time in my life. Logistically, how do you get to Quepos from San Jose -land or air?
Can anyone recomend a good hotel for 1 or 2 nights in Quepos?
thanks much.

Welcome to the board Jejad55. I too am a new CRT VIP, just got back in the States after my first trip to CR. I rode the innerbus to Quepos with Sluthog for a great fishing trip. There is a little hotel right in the middle of town called Malincke, or something like that. It's not fancy, but clean and secure.

The nightlife is a block over, mainly in a friendly bar called Mar Y Blues. There were some pretty good looking girls there every night. The Hotel Kamuk is right across the street from there. It looked a little nicer, I think about $60 per night.

The girls in the bar try to ask for cien. I learned from CRT vets, NO CIEN! So, being a first timer in CR thought I was pretty shrewd when I hooked up with one for $50. I think my learned associate did better for considerably less.

We flew back to SJ after the fishing, which was pretty good. The flight was less than a half hour. The innerbus was close to 4 hours. Personally, I would fly Sansa or Nature Air rather than take the bus. It's about $30 more, but the scenery from the air is great and the time saved is worth the extra money.

Jenjad - I have been to Quepos by air and car, and enjoyed both trips. If I was alone, I would definitely fly. It is cheaper and quicker.

On my last trip, with 3 amigos I took a van to Quepos. The cost, for a nice van with a great driver, was either $100 or $150, I can not remember. I rode with a driver named Orlando, his contact information is contained in a sticky above. What was nice is that he gave a low key tour along the way. We stopped along a river and saw dozens of crocodiles. We stopped for a great meal right along the water... The roads are not that bad, and even the worst parts, such as the deteriorating one lane bridges, are a fun adventure.

I have always enjoyed the Hotel Kamuk. Right in the middle of the action in Quepos, and is very clean and safe (plus they have some hot girls working there).

Enjoy your trip
