I have booked my trip on Copa for $339 round trip from Las Vegas. I thought that was as cheap as it could get. However United is now at $317 round trip from Las to Sjo!! Great deal however I am happy to try Copa! For $22 I think I am going to be treated a lot better and hope to see how much better they are than the US airlines!

Yes, indeed. You are a lot better off flying COPA. United does have several codeshares with COPA out of PTY. Make sure you read the fine print before you click the "purchase" buttom... or you may end up flying on United. LOL.

Total time for the Copa flight is 10 hours 55 minutes! United is 9 hours 55 minutes. But if I had thought it through better I could have got the earlier Copa flight from Panama City which would have put total time under 9 hours. I just was concerned that the 57 minutes between connections was cutting it close if I got delayed. However other members have posted that it is not a problem it is get off one plane and on to another. I was assuming there was a immigration or customs check at PTY. that is why I took the later connection.

No, passengers in transit do not need to clear immigration or customs in Panama. It takes about 12 - 15 minutes to walk between the furthest points in the airport. Seamless transfer of luggage between flights.

Don't forget to try to bid on a first class upgrade at the last minute. Many people do not know about this and you might get lucky. I did.
