I arrive in the am & have an overnight in San Jose (after a few other places). So I'm deciding between Amistad, Sleep Inn, & Mona Lisa (can't remember new name). I have only stayed at Mona Lisa before, liked that they had a poker game. Want something close cab ride to Del Rey, clean & nice room (upscaleish), & no chica fee. Thoughts or opinions on which I should choose?

Thanks,
Gasparlemarc

Just one night in SJ? Might as well stay at HDR since it sounds like you plan to spend some time there anyway.

Thanks hd. I was actually considering it but everything I've read says its kind of a dump to stay so that's why I want somewhere else.

I know just one night sucks but it's the tail end of week long trip so it just worked out. And I get in early enough to hit up a couple of casas then clean up, have dinner, then hit Del Rey or KL.

True, it's not the ritz but about as convenient as it gets.

Sportsmans Lodge and La Amistad are good choices as well and you can have a nice room at either. Very short cab ride to/from HDR.

Chica fee at Del Rey and Sleep Inn. No fee at Amistad, stayed 5 nites in Feb. and it's a 3 minute walk from the Sportsmens.

I've stayed at the Rey many times and the rooms aren't as much of a dump as many say they are. Sometimes I wonder if the guys saying that it is a dump have actually stayed there. When I stay there I get a Deluxe Room with 2 queen beds. One bed for sex and the other for sleeping. Very spacious and the ones I've stayed in were clean.

I stay there all the time, it's not a dump, very spacious and clean, TV WiFi good ac, excellent management and maid service. Drawbacks are it can be loud, even into the wee hours, get on the third floor or higher. They have some rooms in the center of the building with no windows outside, if you're claustrophobic like me, ask for an outside window room on third floor or higher and u should be fine. 8)

I don't understand why some guys are obsessed with Chic a fees about 11$ at DelRey, some places that have no Chic a fee are typically $30 a night more than HDR...unless u is some kind of stud muffin, bring home 3 or 4 or more a night, it's nonsense. If you're on a budget and stay at a less expensive place only then does it make sense. If the HDR is your pickup place and u stay elsewhere, add the cab fees and added aggravation whatever that's worth...still a del rey lover...sorry Bang Bang I can't help it. You did talk me out of New Fantasy, though

If you're there for a short time the Rey is going to be ok. Yes, there is a chica fee and yes, they all ask for cien. You can't get away from the first but you can get away from the second. Shop around.

when you add up the girls I bring back, + the breakfast I have to buy, + my laundry & phone fees, which my preferred hotel (LA) provides free of charge, I just don't like to throw money away at a crooked operator.

I don't like giving excess money to a place where the bar staff consistently 1) tries to overcharge you 2) makes you wait forever for your change & 3) insists on you buying them a drink
