Copa and Avianca are fukin expensive. Is there any other airline between these cities that is sane pricing? |

Avianca (LifeMiles) has 2 for 1 bought miles every quarter. $33 per 1,000 miles. You need 9,500-10,000 one way. If you buy 10k for $330, you basically have a round trip ticket. Other than that, it has always been over $500 round trip. |

Also, what I did last August is fly into MDE, stay there a few days, then use a one-way LifeMiles ticket for 9500 miles to SJ, and flew home from SJO. This was on JetBlue to/from home, and Avianca for MDE-SJO. I did one way tickets: home-MDE and SJO-home and a "free" LifeMiles ticket MDE-SJO ($75/taxes one-way) |

Do you need to have proof of a yellow fever inoculation if going from MDE to SJO ? Any new restrictions now due to Zika virus ? Colombia is the second largest infected area after Brazil. |

yes for yellow fever, at least 10 days before trip to SJO. Was asked to show my card twice, once in Medellin and also in Bogota on the layover. don't know about the other thing, not familiar with it. |

FYI, I had my yellow fever shot a couple of years ago and after about 8 days I was woken up at 2AM with what I first thought was a runny nose, turned out it was a bloody nose that would not stop. After 1 1/2 hours of not being able to get it to stop I ended up in the ER. As long as I pinched it at the top of my nose it was fine but as soon as I let go it was like a friggin waterfall. I told them at the ER I had gotten the vaccine and they said it was not a known side effect. Previously the only time I ever had a bloody nose was when I got hit in the nose. They did say my blood pressure was elevated and that was probably the reason for the bloody nose. I told them you try not being able to control bleeding on your body and see if your blood pressure goes up a bit. Also a couple of days after that episode I was cleaning the pipe in the shower and had blood in my leche. Coincidence? I think not. The vaccine was the reason for my bloody nose and for blood in my C*m. For the record it has been over 2 years and I have not had another bloody nose or any other sort of bleeding other than when I cut myself. The vaccine was 110.00 and the trip to the ER was over 400.00. After that episode I now have an assortment of plastic nose clamps that I keep in my vehicles, work, home, in my travel bag etc, in case I ever have another bloody nose as the clamp worked great and had I known what the ER was going to do I would have just used that. For the record the looked inside my nose and could not see anything wrong other than the bleeding, there was no burst blood vessels and there was nothing they could do but either clamp it or pack my nose which they said was not the most comfortable option. It took about 45 mins with the clamp to stop the bleeding. |
