Post subject:  Dunn Inn chic fee for overnight

Hi all,
I booked 2 rooms at the Dunn Inn for next week and read somewhere on the board that there is a 10 dollar fee for overnight guests? Is this true? Kinda defeats the purpose of no chic fees. If it is true would it not be better to just move to Mona Lisa/Taormina next door?

Thanks

Yes they state it on their website i believe
Its a hit and miss as the last time I spent a couple of nights there I was charged for one and not the other fwiw
Guess it depends on who is at the desk

That is rather unfortunate. As it is making me consider elsewhere. Also, what are your thoughts on the breakfast?

I just looked at their web site and could not find anything about a chica fee. I have stayed at the Dunn my last three trips with March 2015 my last stay and did not experience a problem. Anybody else experienced a problem?

I think.......it is just for the overnighters. I have never paid a fee in the last 6 visits.

There seems to be conflicting reports. Hopefully, there will be no fee. I will report back on this once I arrive.

There IS an overnight fee but no chica fee per se
I normally don't stay in hotels but needed a place a few months back and was surprised when on the second night there a guy asked if the girl i was with would be staying the night and hit me for the extra $10
If you try to book on the site or hotels.com etc and state two adults the rate changes
As far as the breakfast its decent, not bread and coffee like some places...
The food there is actually quite good albeit a tad expensive

I'll be there in Feb and will definitely post something regarding a chica fee. Have not experienced what LAdiablo experienced, but then again booked single and never brought back a lady to the Dunn Inn for a TLN. The only thing the night staff ever asked for was an id for the chica and always called the room when she was leaving/getting her id back.

Stood there last November and my favorita was with me every night and even parked her car in the DI lot around the block, I did not get charged any extra fee.

the late afternoon staff hit me for the $10 (which i think he probably pocketed) and the night staff just asked for ID from the girl
i was leaving the following day and calling it an early evening so that also might have entered into it
as well as the fact I'm hardly a regular at Dunn inn
the guy had a laminated copy of the guest policy he was happy to thrust in my face fwiw
good front desk/manners/cust service people are clearly hard to find in CR

Agree with you LAdiablo - that was poor customer service. I vote by my wallet and if I get treated that way they lose my patronage. Will see how it goes.

The DI has certainly changed since the days of Boyd and then Guy. I only stayed there this time because my wing had to book the DI for certain reasons I cannot disclose here. I usually stay with my favorita in Escazu at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, but of course that is situational to what I do these days. But the DI is not that great anymore in many respects.

I agree with most post. When you arrive you should ask up front. Or better solution. Just call them and ask. Before booking.

I can confirm with 100% certainty that they charge $10 for overnight guests. That is for the breakfast ticket the next morning. It's on the form that you sign at check-in.

But if you book the room for 2 people (it's about $7 more at hotels.com), I believe there is no fee.
