I visited CR from 11/12 - 11/16/2015. I stayed at the Sleep Inn but decided to spend some time at the Sportmens Lodge to watch the games and surf the internet. To my surprise, I was told on two separate occasions that the router "does not work". This is a major disadvantage for Sportmens lodge. Providing internet access is an invaluable investment for a modern hotel that caters to international travelers. I can only have at most two bang bang during the day. The rest of the time I need to get some rest and catch up on some work emails, journals, and news articles. Having a reliable high speed internet is indispensable for a business. Some of the other customers present also complained of the unreliable internet service. I hope that Sportsmen Lodge c have this problem corrected. I had to travel to the Del Rey zoo to view my emails and watch the games. Sportsmen Lodge lost my business from food and drinks that would have been purchased.

Dear Korpu,

I appreciate you taking the time to post your disappointment with our internet service located in the food and beverage serving areas.

We have been aware of this problem for too long now actually. Still working on a resolution..... We will solve this, we have to. I will try to update once this issue is solved to my confidence and satisfaction.

Thanks,
Bill

You stay at another hotel and bitch about the wi-fi at a place you went to visit..

Costa Rica is a developing nation the internet problem may have not been the hotels fault

Did this last for days and did you manage to survive

I recently visited the historic Sportsman's Lodge.

Bill did, in fact, wave to me. We even had a nice conversation to catch up. And Danny too waved to me and asked me how I've been.

Yes, the place looks beautiful with all the modern expansions. But, the hats are gone, as has been reported here.

I ran into several old friends that I have not seen in awhile. Pops and BB57 gave me the low down on the current scene. Two words: Monicas.

I did not try to log onto the wi-fi while I was there so I can not report on the wi-fi.

You could have viewed your emails at an internet cafe. There are at least a couple of them within a block from the Gulch. One of them is just down the street from the Hotel Morazan, heading towards the Hotel Presidente.
Doesn't the Sleep Inn have a reliable internet connection?

Complaining about wifi in a hotel that you are not even staying at... really? How was the connection of the free games on TV?

Did you even buy a bottle of water?

I was at the Sleep Inn during the same time. I used the Sleep Inn's internet connection without any trouble the whole time I was there.

In fairness to Bill, I wonder if the OP reached out to Bill or the Sportsmens' staff to complain about the issue before deciding to blast the SL's wifi on this forum? Did he complain and get no response? What's the point of his post?

Complaining about Wifi service at a hotel you aren't staying in - on a public forum no less - seems petty to me.

P.S. Owe you a beer :)

I have been coming to CR since 2006 and stay at SL about 4 times a year. It would not hurt for Sportsmens to upgrade its computer equipment and access. The gym could also use some good cardio equipment.

Get off the OP's back. He has a valid complaint about a business. He was not complaining about the hotel aspect, but instead the restaurant / sportsbar side of the business.

The business acknowledged the issue and promised to get it resolved for all patrons. And that is a win for all of us.

Many of us are friends with Bill, who is probably one of the nicest guys in the gulch. There is no need to adopt a "Castle Defense" posture just because someone criticizes his business with valid issues.

To blast a bar for no Wi-Fi (it is not advertised on web page that there it is available) is rude. Of course Bill was polite in his response. He is a business owner focused on customer satisfaction. I am not. Therefore, I can say how rude it was for the OP to even initiate the post. Despite what you say BD, the customer does not have a valid complaint about no wifi at the bar, unless free wifi was used by the bar to lure the customer in. I doubt that it was.

Agreed. To add, the OP stated that he visited SL "to watch the games and surf the internet". He didn't say that he went to eat lunch and have a drink. I hope he bought a meal or at least a couple of beers, otherwise he's just a freeloader who on top of it complains that the free service is not up to his standards.

Guests at the hotel who are paying for a room (and inherently the wifi) have every right to complain about things like that, but a non-paying guest in my opinion does not.

BS! Everyone knows wifi is available at the SL. When it's not, it's an issue. The business itself stated that IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE! They'll fix it.

SL is known as a place to hang out and watch sports on the tvs. It is geared towards tourists, who expect basic wifi service (which is available in most of the hotels in the downtown area). How many posts have complained about poor wifi service somewhere?

No one else other than True Sportsman needed to chime in on this thread. He said it'll be fixed, and I am sure the OP will give benefit of the doubt and try them when he's next in town.

When we dogpile on a simple complaint thread, all we do is look like a bunch of whining bitches.
