Can anybody who has experienced the new passport checks at the airport flying in to San Jose comment on their experience? This is recent, so it would be interesting to hear about it. http://www.ticotimes.net/2015/11/20/jua ... ort-checks |

I had a client fly in on United 1096 yesterday. It arrived at 12:30pm and she came out of the airport at 3:30pm, right at 3 hours after she landed. She also flew business class with NO checked baggage. She said they had ONE person checking foreigner passports while there were 5 people doing resident/citizens. And no discount on parking even though they are well aware of the problem and well aware people are waiting ridiculous amounts of time for friends and relatives. They keep this up, it will put a big dent in tourism...who wants to sit on a plane for 4 hours then go stand in line for 4 hours. And if you are traveling by yourself and halfway through the line need to use a restroom, good luck. The best word I can use to describe it was a total cluster**** |

When did this start? I was there at Halloween, and there was the same clusterfark with getting thru customs and immigration. Two clerks for the tourist side - I thought it was just a temporary staffing issue that day. Normally there are 8-10 lanes open and you breeze right through. What's the reason for the changes? |

Might have something to do with the multiple syrians who came through costa rica with fake Greek passports http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/18/americas/ ... -detained/ http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-34875390 |

Every trip to the airport this week has been quick and easy. People are reporting, unlike last Friday, that all the lanes are staffed and only 3 were used for locals with 5 for foreigners. It actually seems, on average, people are coming out of the airport FASTER than before they made the change and one day of long waits. So we can all breathe easier now...it's back to normal or even better! |

i think the problem is that most of the time if 2 or more flights land at the same time it's chaotic. when i arrive on the 12 Nov that's what happen. it took me 3 hours to get out of the airport. |

I came in on a UA flight Last Saturday and was in economy with a carry on. Not only was the flight 15 minutes early, but I went from exit to street in less than 10 minutes. |

I flew in on the 6th (mid-day) and the Immigration line was 3 flight's long. I still beat my checked bag by about 3 minutes, but it was at least 45 minutes to the curb. |
