Does anyone know what the Tica fee is at Sleep In Hotel which is next door to the Del Rey? I met a guy at DR who could not get a room at DR and stayed at Sleep In and loved it, and said the Tica fee was $10, but a post on tripadvisor says it is $25. Does anyone know? |

I have heard $20.....but as many things in CR, maybe it is negotiable. |

It has always been $25 at Sleep Inn and that was at least 2 years ago. Not negotiable, in fact, it seems like they would prefer to not allow any visitors altogether. |

This is my experience from one year ago when i stayed at the Sleep Inn for three nights. When making the reservation online i made it for two. it was ten dollars more for two rather than one. Then the first girl i brought to my room and she gave her ID at the front desk they allowed her up without a fee. She was the only one i could bring to my room without a fee. Anyone else with a different name they would charge a $25 fee. The hotel prefers you keep things low key with the girls because they do have family's and business people who stay at the hotel. Sleep Inn is very quiet compared to other hotels in the area. The DR, Zona 2, SL, Mona Lisa, etc. The free breakfast buffet and shuttle to the airport are great too. |

I've never had one get upset over my question, but I have offended a few "Ticas" by asking them if they were "Tica" or "Nica". |

Couldn't you just walk straight past the desk as if you belonged there (in other words, if it were your wife, you'd not stop every time to have her show ID). Gran Hotel does not permit 'room companions' unless they are registered. But I had no issue registering one, and using her 'registration' to walk in with others. (Though I should point out that if I brought another that was clearly not my registered one, I'd use the servants entrance instead of passing the desk.) |

That is too bad about the $25 Tica fee. I had thought it might be a nice alternative to the Del Rey but for $25 I will pass. |

The girl i was with just went to the front desk like she has done this before. Which she has, i am sure. The lobby of the Sleep Inn is very small and the elevators are right across from the lobby desk. You don't see to many gringos in there with working girls so it might be hard to sneek one in. |
