Very simple question. I've looked around the forums to get a clue but thought I'd ask y'all anyway. Not expecting a consensus but a brief opinion of preferences taking into account that I'll be doing a week of daily dental work and my VIP gets me extra discounts at my chosen clinic. They also pick up from sponsored hotels. I want to 'hunt' as much while in SJO (SL for ease and availability?) but will also want to pull back and recover, too. (Amistad) If nothing else, any opinions on whether the Amistad all inclusive is worth it it? (Seems like the booze alone would make up the difference, but is the food any good? |

All personal opinion. I have stayed at both and I like Amistad with the all inclusive. You can walk to SL and hang out. |

I have stayed at both. Your general assessment as to the considerations is spot on. I doubt you will have a problem with either choice. Its a little quieter and more laid back at La Armistad which is good sometimes. Sportsmen's and La Armistad are only a short block apart so its easy to stay at La Armistad and hunt at Sportsmen. That said, Sportsmen's is more active, easier to meet people (either fellow mongers or girls as there is way more traffic) and has a more party atmosphere. Both have great owners/hosts who will help you out. Food is excellent at La Armistad and the all inclusive is likely to be cheaper all in. It is really a personal preference as to how close to the party/girl action you want to be. On that scale there is a progression... from La Armistad to Sportsmen's to the Del Rey. Lance |

I stay at LA and take advantage of the all-inclusive. I will get a good beer buzz then go check out the talent at SL. I like both places but I drink a lot of beer while there and beer aint cheap at either place. The food (and the food is excellent - check their website for a menu) itself probably makes up for the extra cost and the beer is basically free. None of the girls will have any issue at all walking the short distance from SL to LA. If money is NO object, I would just stay at SL. But I am a tightwad. |

My gut tells me Amistad. I can always go TO the action from there but at the SL it would be hard to get AWAY from it. Since I'll be a the dentist the best part of every morning or afternoon, I don't anticipate being very ambitions about exploring local cuisine eateries (I'm usually adventurous in that area) Okay. My mind is made up. Amistad...BUT maybe switch between when I'm there provided there is vacancy! |

My calculations would put SL cheaper than LA. Especially with the 25% VIP discount (for booking a week) or am I missing something? |

Depends on how much you eat and drink. The food and drinks are expensive at either place. If you book by the end of this month the all-inclusive queen is only about $80 a night. Also the courtyard rooms at SL are older and very noisy. You can easily spend $30 a day just on food. That puts the room at about $50 and all the booze/beer you can drink. Plus LA gives free transport to Jaco and a free ride back to the airport when you stay at least 4 nights. I myself save at least another $30 bucks a day on beer. They are 3 to 4 bucks each |

With the all inclusive @ the Amistad....it's a better deal money wise if you want to be tied into a drink and feed at the same place every night...I am not big of all-inclusive unless you go somewhere exotic with your honey and do not want to leave the property. I am an explorer and spur of the moment...I eat when I am hungry and drink when I am thirsty......which is al the time,,,,so it doesn't matter where i am ![]() it's whatever works for you! |

Between the two...I'd stay at SL...the food is good at LA,but do you really want to have all your meals at the same place? The bar at LA is nice but when I'm in CR I want to drink where the girls are (SL,DR,KL). IF the courtyard rooms are too loud for you....you can take a room in the clubhouse (much quieter). With your CRT discount these rooms are very reasonable (and nice). Just another opinion!! |

Funny but I keep thinking the threads are like facebook and I can 'like' and reply to a specific comment. So, anyway, thanks for the input. I'm no further to making a decision now than before! All points to consider. I may have to flip a coin. I'm an explorer, too and somewhat of an epicurean. seeking out unique chow is a favorite pastime. In this case though, I'll be spending all day in the 'chair' and don't anticipate wanting to make the effort to get around too much. I'll want to save my energy and enthusiasm for the tender trap. If any of you are around between the 22nd-29th this month we might meet |

I like SL; my buddy likes Amistad. He like food and drink thing. I like the availability of girls in house to chat w or take as well as the guys to chat with at SL. Little more of a party atmosphere and I get clubhouse or mansion rooms. |

I'm booked for seven nights at Amistad but may move over to SL when I have my new smile and am more motivated for action, and to make up for the first few days of probably little to none! |

I know a guy who had implants or something done a few years ago, and he was running around with a bloody ice pack pretty much permanently stuck to his face and it didn't stop him. He was a little grouchy but mongered. ![]() |

The food is apparently good at LA .. you probably don't want to skimp on food quality (and quantity) if you are going to be as randy as a rabid horndog while you are down there. Just sayin' - consider it as a data point in your planning Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
