It seems that the rack rates for Halloween and Superbowl have been jacked up to $80 for the old room and $100 for the renovated rooms for Halloween, and $90/$110 for SB week. How many of you are willing to pay $100 for a room at ML? ![]() ![]() ![]() Are the owners looking to recoop their renovation investment in the first 6 months? Or maybe they have adopted the Beatle Bar business model, price gouge the shit out of your customers and hope they don't leave. Smells like gringo greed. |

Sounds like they are ready to fall into the same hole they dug the first time.. I stopped in last week to check out the new restaurant... It's nice..but once again the menu is too high priced IMO....Isn't one supposed to learn from previous mistakes? Seems like after you shoot yourself in the foot a couple of times...you would stop.....because it hurts!! |

I booked last week for Halloween weekend at the promotional rate of 49.99 for a standard room. Guess I got lucky right before the rate hike. Really only hotel that had availability that I would want to stay at. |

Really only hotel that had availability that I would want to stay at. Those are the rooms that have not been renovated yet. They may or may not have a working safe, so think about how to safeguard your valuables. I'd recommend a good luggage lock. |

Ok yeah thanks for the info. I was going to ask if the remodeled rooms on the 4th floor are ready or will be ready by the end of October. I thought I read somewhere that they would not be done until next year. |

I like ML but I'll pay cien for a room - renovated or not - the same day I pay cien for a chica. To be honest I don't know if I would pay the $49.99 again. I had to move out last time for lack of.... whatever. If everything worked, it would be a real bargain. Greekboy, you got the last bargain. |

try getting a room for regular price in Vegas the weekend of a big fight, or in the city hosting the Super Bowl or New Years Eve near Times Square. Those two weekends in CR are amongst the busiest in the Gulch. |

It's supply & demand, when all the other joints are sold out, jack up your rates, why give away the product. The owners are finally showing a little bit of business sense! When we have a convention or big special event weekend in Vegas, the room that usually goes for $99, now goes for $299! |

If they can't fill their rooms at $49.00, I wonder how they'll do with $100.00 a night....... |

If your safe isn`t bolted down just phone the front desk and they will send someone to bolt it down. That is what I did and they had a guy in my room 10 minutes later. I really enjoyed my 2 week and one month long stay at ML. |

Lehoi wrote: Just for anyone's information. As of last Friday (August 7th), the $49 rate at the ML is no longer available. Fourth floor (newly renovated) rooms are not available yet. Third floor (older rooms), yes. There are two prices for the older rooms. They have a special that is about $57 (30,200 colones) and includes a $10 (which to me is kind of high) breakfast (American, Continental, or Tico). The second price is the regular rate for the older rooms which is now $79. You can get the CRT discount, and that knocks the $79 down to $69. So the special for $57 is a better deal than the CRT rate. I asked for a good room, and I got a two queen-sized-beds room. These are the prices as they were presented to me by the genial Daniel, the fellow (who speaks good English) in reception. Couldn't get a hold of Guy. In CR, it seems that it depends who you talk to. Last month, I inquired about a room for late August, and Guy personally told me this: "...the remodeled rooms are going for regular price $69.99 and the unfinished rooms will be $39.99" So are they available or not? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Personally, I would not pay $57 for the old room (which may or may not have a safe, or be bolted down..LOL). |

Lehoi wrote: Even at $49, $57, $69, or $79 the prices are more reasonable than anything comparable stateside. Lehoi, Stop comparing CR to the US, especially in terms of prices. |
