Just returned from a 6 day visit - (3rd trip in two months. )
Stayed at La Amistad for the first time and had a wonderful time.
First of all, they are true Hotel people and run an excellent business; all the staff was attentive and responded to any questions, concerns and needs. In addition to the wonderful Chef, the bartenders are fun, the front desk personnel are sharp and they keep the place very clean.
It cost $ 637 for six nights and it was a value. As previously mentioned, this includes all 3 meals, open bar, and since I stayed 4 nights or more, a ride bar to airport, and a round trip to Jaco was available. But the most delightful part is leaving your dirty laundry on the bed and coming back to a nicely laundered and folded stack.
The Hotel is quiet, cozy and charming. Being a converted mansion EVERY room is unique.
At first I had a room with no place to set my toiletries and no room to lay out my 'stuff'. After mentioning it, they moved me to a larger room that was more than I needed.
Met some regulars who like particular rooms. Met a couple of first timers, and one obnoxiously overjealous guy who was paranoid that everyone was out to steal his 'girlfriend'.. I told him " Dude we don't poach around here, we just get our own", and the bartender kept telling him to chill out.
No girls are allowed to hang, but you just BYOB (Bring your own Broad)
The Sportsmans is a half block away, Mona Lisa and Dunn are a 5 minutes walk downhill, and you get the best of both worlds.
The way I do Costa Rica, this lends a little elegance for the ladies I invite back to 'my house' . The not so nice ladies like it too. lol
Cant say enough about the place and the staff.
