First time staying here. Got a great rate on Hotels.com of $50 a night for a deluxe room. The place is very quiet and laid back. The bed is great, AC works very well, and the bathroom is adequate and always has hot water. The front desk staff is helpful and the restaurant has average food and prices.

I also like the fact that the location is within walking distance of Zona II, New Fantasy, and SL.

I normally stay at the SL because I love the atmosphere and staff but if you are in the mood for something a little more private and cheaper I'd give it a great recommendation.

H Champ, thanks for your post.

Can you describe more what was in your room? Was it like a suite? Table with chairs? Couches? Big bathtub?

I have stayed at DI once before, and only for one night, and the regular rooms are a bit small (IMO).

But I like DI and may elect to stay there for Halloween. (Indeed, SL and other places may be sold out for this weekend at this point.)

Thanks in advance,

TD

Doc,

When I checked in I asked to see the rooms that were available. I did notice some of them to be small like you described. It seems like the rooms on the first floor are a little bigger.

I'm in room 9. It's got a little living room with a couch, coffee table, and tv. The room has a minifridge, desk, and a queen sized bed. The bathroom has a big shower (No tub) but a small sink.

Here is the link to a few pictures...

Thanks for the details TC…this is a great time of the year to visit San Jose; you can find a hotel room anywhere and they are all pretty much half price.

I fly in on Friday. Instead of booking ahead, I'll just do a walk in at Dunn Inn see what I can get…there are so many options :) Planning a trip to Arenal with a favorita before heading to MDE.

Any issues with the chica check-in at DI??

Never had an issue there with girls. Do not get the room around the corner from the front desk though as it is street level and you get noise in the morning.

Although I'm a dedicated Del Rey true believer love to be in the belly of the beast guy, I had friends stay at the Dunn and I found the rooms elegant and classy, the restaurant excellent and the atmosphere cozy, the help always attentive. :)

There used to be an incredible big thick juicy full breasted waitress there who wore glasses, very friendly and feisty, I never got the nerve to inquire if she would be interested in an encounter, I assumed she was not a working girl. I later found out from a member here that if you inquired discreetly, she would meet you after work. :!:

Lesson learned, if you don't ask, the answer is no, if you do ask...you just might get a yes, what have you got to lose???? I blew that opportunity :x :x :x          ....oh well...the beauty of Costa Rica is there are so many opportunities you don't lament the one who got away for too long....   :P :P :P 8) 8) 8) :D :D :D

If it were not for the fact I have to be in the center of action, I would definitely stay there, it's an excellent alternative to HDR and SL, I believe they also have parking if you rent a car. 8)

By the way...if she still works there and you see her and take advantage of the situation, you can thank me :!: :!: :!:

I haven't had any issues and wouldn't expect any as long as they have their ID. What's even better is if you have a girl come to meet you they will let her in the lobby then call your room. If you give them the "ok" they will send her on back.

Thanks again for all the info Champ! Room looks great, thanks also for the photos.

Do you generally find you can get a good discount going through Hotels.com, Orbitz, Travelocity, etc?

Thanks again. :)

Some hotels in CR are on booking.com and Expedia.com. I had good luck with an advance booking on Expedia.

I usually at least check. A lot of the places people typically stay aren't available on these sites but do offer CRT discounts which are good as well.

Worth it to check, I emailed the Dunn Inn and got a quote of $77 for a standard room ($5 more than the website listing). I went on Hotels.com and booked it for $57.

Give them a call and talk to Guy. Last week when I was there they were offering rooms for $30.00, but you have to pay cash. I don't know when this will end. I paid $39.00 not long ago. Also depends when you'll be there.
