I stayed at the old Clarion back in about 2008-2009 and liked the place.

I just stayed there 4 days last week after returning from Arenal, I saw no signs of LGBT. All the customers were men, all were hunting women. The bar had several working girls every night, and day. Good stay, no problems, the bartenders were enjoyable. The restaurant was not open though, but, other than that, no problems.

They just need to get more of a "scene" going to make it attractive. The last few times I've walked through (last October and in February) it looked pretty dead. I will stay there a couple of days during my upcoming trip in late May...give it a test drive.
