Hi guys. 3rd time visiting the gulch this year. Could I get some advice on which room or rooms in La Amistad are most favorable and why ? Price doesn’t matter. I'll only be there a few days. Thanks in advance :)

I've only stayed there a few times, but I've enjoyed it quite a bit. My favorite room there at this point would be 202. It's above the front door basically and it's big with a hot tub and a sauna.

Suite 312 is very nice. But, there are a lot of stairs to get there. There is a balcony that has some nice views. Plenty of natural light throughout the suite.

Agree. Rooms in the low 300s on the west side are my favorite, that's the side away from the train tracks. If you don't mind the climb, you get some relative quiet up there.

The massage room is up there too.

312 is nice but 311 is an awesome room if you have a girl that can cook
full kitchen and it has windows in the bedroom and the sitting area
as well as the hallway
i think Matt should comp me a night next time down and we'll cook lasagna for the staff for old times sake :P 8)
maybe a jackhammer for a wake up?

BK, that's nothing. Wait 'til you try hiking up "the rock" (Guatape - el Peñol) in Colombia. It's only 780 steps straight up! By the way... I think you still owe me $100. since you lost that bet! Ahh... I remember EVERYTHING!

I would agree with El Penol, made the trek in February, by the way it is only 740 steps once you start climbing.

I was in 207 or 209 can't remember witch, but the train noise was surely an issue compared to the rooms I had before by the massage room.

I stayed in 304 recently. It was on the other side of the hotel from the train tracks. I never heard it while sleeping. I would have thought 301 to 307 would all be good. Just ask Rudy or Carlos. They will tell it like it is.

Thanks for all the info. It was extremely helpful. Took the majority advice and went with 312. I'll pay it back by giving my first trip report 8) .
