Post subject:  is there a trick to getting a room at hotel cocal?
I have been trying for days to secure a room and Hotel Cocal, and I was wondering if my experiences are normal or if there is another, better way to go about it. I tried the web site. I didn't hear back, so I called and was told the website doesn't work. I was told to use email. I used email and was sent a form to fill out. When I tried to send it back to them their email was full, so it was kicked back. I tried faxing. The number they provided on the form didn't work, so I faxed to the number listed on the web site. I called to see if they got it. They did not get the fax and told me not to use the fax number listed on the web site. They said they would check with the I.T. guy to fix fax number. I tried to send the email again, and this time it went through. I was sent a confirmation number some time later, but the prices quoted were higher than the prices listed on the web site. I just sent an inquiry about that, so Im waiting to see what happens next...

Is this normal? Is there a better way to go about it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just got off the phone with the lady from the hotel. She told me that all the prices on the web site are wrong. :-) Pura Vida I suppose. LOL She did say that they will honor the CRT discount when I get there...we'll see.

Call the 800 number. You may have to call several times but it's worth it

My experience is that you have to use email and call. Email to give credit card and other info and calling to make sure they get it. Also, as far as I can tell, only one lady handles the reservations. Its very frustrating. My 1st trip to San Jose I stayed in Sportsmen's Lodge because I was running into the same type of situation at the Del Rey.

I used the 800 number & got through right away, arranged booking & got a confirmation number. My personal feeling is that email is not secure enough to send my credit card information.

This is right. If you are having problems call the 800 number. This is the number of one of their US owners whose name is Jim, and he is a great guy. If he isn't in his secretary is also very helpful. I don't know why but their staff at the hotel is lax when it comes to taking reservations. But once I get there and get to know them they have been pretty competant people.

I was told the same rate as posted ( courtyard low season) and less the CRT discount of 10%

But it's CR, so who knows :roll:

I booked a couple trips when I was there recently. Prices increased by just a few dollars. This is the first increase in 3 years not bad imho.
