I'm one that DOES pay attention to "detail" and I see these little "mistakes" increasingly over and over especially in the media within major publications. I just think it's a reflection of the downward spiral that has occurred over the years when it comes to education and BASIC reading and grammar skills. To most people it's not a big deal which is fine but as an employer I would not hire anyone that can't differentiate between "due to" and "do to".

Maybe...More likely a reflection of downsizing by big business.

I see glaring grammatical errors (like "have went") in surprising places.

With my own imperfections, I call it THE DUMBING OF AMERICA caused by a failed educational system coupled with dismal home lives for too many people.

That...plus an over-reliance on spell-check, which would not have caught the examples given. But seriously what kind of country relies on the lottery to finance education? While giving billions in tax incentives to build pro sports stadiums? Bread and circuses indeed...except the bread is getting noticeably absent.
