Hi guys I am planning my first trip to CR in mid April. Thought stay at Cocal in Jaco for 4 nights then head over to San Jose for 5 more nights. In San Jose I am debating over staying at Dunn Inn or LA. Was going to get the penthouse at LA or executive room at Dunn Inn. Wondering which one is better in terms of room quality? Mike |

I'd suggest La Amistad for two reasons. I think you will like the suite at LA better and if you are going to Jaco, you can take advantage of LA's shuttle service and save yourself some money on transport as well. Not to mention the all-inclusive deal is about as good as it gets. |

And don't forget the all inclusive meal / drink rate. mh |

Thanks guys, LA it is. Which of the rooms have the sauna? From reading sounds like the ones in 300's are older and one of them is the old apartment for the owner in the past. Are the ones in 200's better? Talking about the penthouses. |

These personal notes are valuable but the Website can answer the questions too...and the owner is available either directly or through CRT. He posts as Mkink.: http://www.hotelamistad.com/ |

I agree with the views that Amistad is a better choice. I have found the noise in some of the rooms at Dunn to be impossible. A great thing about the Amistad is the social life at the bar/restaurant. Also, on my last stay at Dunn I wanted to extend my stay in a nicer room. They might have had 4 guests in the entire hotel. They wanted $135 per night for an admittedly very nice room, but wouldn't negotiate at all for 5 more nights. The Tica manager refused any concession and after several attempts I went to Scores and got an awesome room for $45 per night, and was so glad I did. I believe my request with them was to just get the room under $100 per night total. My recollection is they gave up close to $500 to prove they wouldn't be "taken" by a gringo tourist. Still, there's no shame in staying at Dunn, it has some nice amenities and a great place to have a date come over with both bar/restaurant areas and it's usually quiet and intimate. Just expect some street noise and the need to tolerate "dumb" management if an issue arises. |

LA is awesome. The food is incredible, and the all-inclusive is a no-brainer. Stayed there last year, and booked rooms there again this year. The bar area is a great place to hang out and meet other travelers. And best of all the staff and owners are super friendly and top notch. I love that place.. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I can't seem to find a website for Scores. Anyone know how I can book a room there for a night? Just staying in San Jose for one night(2/8), then off to Jaco. Want a clean, quiet, chica friendly room for around $50. Thanks!!! |

Reminded of a playground joke. Want a penny? Go kiss Jack Benny. Want a dollar? Go outside and holler. Want a room at scores? Read the local lore. I think you will find scores be no more. I have a feeling you already knew that. Are you having fun yet? |
