About 7 or 8 years ago when I stayed at Amon Plaza I stayed in a "suite" there. It had a decent size living room and on each side of the living room was a bedroom. Anybody know if that room is still there. I'm looking for a 2 bedroom option in a "non-monger" hotel.

Hotel Aranjuez is nice "non-monger" hotel. Reasonable price and serves a great breakfast buffet. Check their website and see if they have what you are looking for.

Does Non-Monger mean Non Chica Friendly or does it mean not many mongers stay there?

it means I'm traveling with my 2 daughters.

If you are looking for "NON- MONGER" the Presidente would certainly qualify now!!!

Near Barrio Amon (where Mona Lisa is) there are some good hotels that aren't monger friendly. In addition to Holiday Inn downtown and the Presidente, I'd also toss in the Radisson just around the corner from the Mona Lisa. It is close but yet totally separate from the gulch. Has a nice pool and restaurant. Bet it has a two-bedroom suite but probably charge an arm and leg for it.

If you aren't too concerned about being close to the Gulch, I'd suggest staying out in Escazu if you MUST be in San Jose. For two daughters, I'd think something like Manuel Antonio or Arenal would be more to their liking. There are also some places in Jaco where they wouldn't be exposed to the 'business' like at Los Suenos but still close enough for you to 'get away'.

Actually taking them for a week on the Osa. I was just poking around for a nice but "appropriate" hotel to stay for the 1 night in SJ before we leave. We did stay in that 2 bedroom suite in Amon Plaza which is why I originally asked about that, however, that was probably closer to 8 years ago and I'm sure things are probably different now. I would also prefer something other than the big chain type hotels, Holiday Inn etc. not for me.

This hotel (Don Carlos) is a beautiful family non monger hotel with "family" rooms, K*ds under 12 stay free, it's close to Hemingways, great food, I stayed there once and loved it, was treated well and not too expensive.

Last time I went with family we stayed at Fleur de Lys. Charming, old mansion, great rooms, and a nice bar with 3 stools. Loved the service and the view to the street traffic. All on the up and up.

This is my 3rd trip to Osa and I stay at a lodge called Bosque del Cabo which is fantastic. I usually book one of the houses they have. Talk about getting away from civilization it doesn't get much better than this.
