Is there a regular scheduled reliable van service between San Jose and Puerto viejo?

Not sure if it still exists, but this tour company (Fantasy Tours) ran shuttles to most beach destinations for about $15 one way--pickup at your huttle---try a search engine--I used to take them between Hotel Irazu and Puerto Viejo...much more comfortable and secure than a bus

This was a funny experience on the Puerto Viejo Express:

I rode the $6 bus to Puerto Viejo and back to SJO over navidad. On the way out the ‘express’ pulls over to the side of the road next to a little soda WTF piss break? – no, nobody can gets off. The driver lays on the horn and eventually a older Tica brings him out a bottle of pop and off we go, so much for Tico Express.

On the way back on new years the damn bus Runs Out of Phucking Fuel on the top of the mountains in pouring down rain. We basically had to hitch-hike other busses to get back to Terminal Caribe. Of course my girl of the moment had insisted we sit in the back of the bus that died so we were last in the line to get another bus, the third one to stop. Did I mention that it was Pouring the Phuck Down Rain? I laughed though when my somewhat prissy girlfriend finally had to squat and piss in the ditch, me standing in between the ticos and tourists LOL. I rode the next half hour back to town propped up on the shit that closes the rear bus door - a long ass ride.

I have used the InterBus around CR a lot and it is a pretty suave, but 3 – 4 times as expensive way to get around (Interbus and Fantasy are about the same, more like $25 to PV one way). But I never had this much fun as my first trip on the Tico Express and only $12 Round Trip. Do you remember the laid back bird on the TV commercial about 40 years ago? Like he said “It’s the Only Way to Fly”.

I used them when I went to Jaco back in September.
