+ 1 to Bro True Sportsman's comments. Bro Srilm adds value to us (if you will listen) with every post he's done and I'm glad he's back in whatever capacity--whatever he wants to talk about, we should at least consider. He and I have no biz or personal relationship, just this outsider's comment. |

He and I have no biz or personal relationship, just this outsider's comment. Thanks Jazz! As I have always said, I post about what I know about. In those threads regarding Scuba-Diving, Outdoor Grilling, Surfing, Playing Poker... You will notice that I have never been present except to say "thanks for the advice" or to ask a question. I am, however, anal-retentive regarding learning about aviation, rail, cars, and travel in general. I just finished "Stick and Rudder" for about the bajillionth time, and have most of it memorized. I've met more airline pilots than most other airline pilots have met. I can tell you exactly how many steps it takes to get from the bed to the toilet in hundreds of hotel rooms, cabins, bungalows, and villas in Costa Rica. That's hyperbole, but you get the point. It's not because I'm super-smart or anything special. It's because it's my passion and I live, eat, drink, and breathe travel every day. When I'm on vacation, I read old copies of "Aviation Week". When I'm in an airplane, I'm telling my travel companions inane facts about about the aircraft we're in... "Did you know that the right (#2) engine on this aircraft is slightly offset from the aircraft's longitudinal axis, to help the pilot counteract the effects of a Critical Engine failure?" I speak about what I know about. If I say it's true fact, then I guarantee that it's true fact. If I don't say it's fact, then it's my informed opinion based upon personal knowledge and experience. All I ask is that I not be called a liar or have someone imply that I am a liar. I'm glad you are posting; always found your posts very well written, informative, and helpful, especially regarding air transportation. I call it as I see it but I'd be the first to tell you not to care what others post - I'm sure you know this, but on any message board you are going to have dummies - I'll admit, its somewhat frustrating to be called out when you know you are correct, but until it takes the form of having a personal troll I've got broad shoulders. ![]() Anyway, just wanted you to know that I'll bet many are happy you are back posting! |

Srilm You read old copies of Aviation Week & Space Technology? You're alright. A shot in the (not so) dark, were you at the Sportsmen's Lodge in Nov of 2008 and were you down there on one of the last flights of the old AA A-300's? ![]() |

Sure am glad I posted this little tidbit--I had no idea it would draw Bro Srilm back into the open, but I'm sure glad it happened. Charming story, then dead-solid info/advice--what more do you want from a Thread? |

I am furiously blushing but it prompts me to find other neat stuff to use as cues... |
