Southwest Airlines is planning to launch new service to San Jose, Costa Rica next spring, which would begin March 7, 2015 between Baltimore (BWI) and Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Southwest air cannot fly directly to an international desination from Dallas Love Field.

Yes - was previously posted - great airline - good news for those in the greater DC area

If they want to offer service, doing it out their existing hub in Ft Lauderdale would seem to appeal to more travelers - and BWI is not a hub for many travelers - when they announce service from FLL - then I'll start to get happy.

Right now - its a small step in the right direction, b/c any activity, any more competition is a good thing - I'm very happy JetBlue is flying from FLL to SJO, as an example - they flew out of Orlando, then expanded service - great airline - competitive pricing - decent seats and legroom.
