Thanks guys for all the great info. Have not been in San Jose for quite a few years but plan on making a trip pretty soon.
I like to travel with minimal luggage and will probably arrive late.

Any recommendations for a good hotel to check into after midnight with a lively bar open for a few drinks at that time.
Also need a hotel where laundry can be done same or next day.

I guess the Del Rey will work but I'm looking for another good choice.

Lively bar after 12:00 and not DR--isn't one. I like Mona Lisa after midnight but wouldnt call it real lively. But it's nice and maybe a few girls, nice rooms etc.

After midnight, there's still not much choice other than the Rey for a hotel with some action.

Both ScoreS and SL reception can receive guests all night. The ScoreS bar is supposed to open 'till 1 am, and ScoreS will definitely do your laundry promptly. But the bar there may not have much action after midnight. The SL bar closes at midnight.

DirtyJeff can post the likelihood of an active bar at ScoreS at that hour - - - that's after my curfew.

Wherever you stay, the Key Largo (across from the Rey) is still active (on most nights) well after midnight.
