Hotel Mona Lisa Safes Gentlemen, Regarding the posts about the problems at the Mona Lisa with the safes and Security. Let me tell you first, It's not that I'm not answering the posts. I've only used a computer now for a few years of my life. I'm 66 years old and it's a bit difficult and new for me. I'm doing the best I can. I'm not 100% sure what is going on with the safes in the rooms. My job at the hotel is to walk around and chat with the guests. If they need a market, restaurant, haircut, massage parlor, etc. is to help them out. That's my job ! We have a Hotel Manager, a General Manager, a Security Manager, Front Desk Manager, etc. I've heard about what people have said about losing money from the safes in the rooms. I'm not saying it's true or false. I worked at the Dunn Inn two years and the same thing was said to happen there. I had guys come stay with us that said it happened at other hotels they stayed at and moved to use and vica versa. Guys take girls to rooms and they are all drunk etc. Sometimes guys aren't paying attention and the girls steal. But not knowing for sure what happened the hotel Mona Lisa changed all the safes to different rooms and the room number and the key number don't match anymore. It's a secret code. We also have a brand new lock box with all the safe keys and only two managers have access to the keys. We are adding more cameras in the halls in every corner with 24 hour security. We're doing everything possible to prevent any problems in the rooms. Believe me if we found anyone stealing in the hotel they would be fired and prosecuted. We want happy customers not problems. Thanks , Guy |

On my last stay at the ML the batteries went bad in the safe and I could not open it. I contacted the desk and one of the managers came up with the Master Key. He opened the safe and replaced the batteries. When I tried to open the safe my combination no longer worked. He then explained any time a master key is inserted the combination is cleared and automatically resets itself to a default combination. I had to reset the safe and enter a new password. It was at this point I remembered having a similar situation at another hotel several years ago. I inquired and the manager said yes any time a master key is used it resets to a default combo for all of these type of safes. Bottom line if a master key is used on your safe you will not be able to open it, Guy I will see you in a couple of weeks and I will have no worries using the in room safe. |

PS, I will also add Guy is being straight about his computer skills. On a previous visit I helped him or should I say I tried to help him with some EMail issues and he really is illiterate when it comes to computers (no offense intended). |

I will now reconsider staying at the ML. It looks like the hotel has taken the necessary steps to prevent this from happening again. I'm not concerned if they have a good restaurant or services, I just want a decent sized room with a window and I prefer carpet to tile. |

Thanks guys for your support and posts. I am being straight with all of you. I really care about your visit here at the Mona Lisa and want everything to be as perfect as possible. If you stay at the Mona Lisa and have a problem my office is always open and I will do my best to solve the problem and make sure you leave Happy. If you don't have a problem stop by my office anyway and say "HI". I love the company and would love to say HELLO if you stay at the Mona Lisa or not. If you are in San Jose for the first time and have question or need to find anything in town , I would be happy to help you out. Have a Great day brothers. Guy |

This is the kind of message that has made Guy so well known and respected. It's good to see that he has found a keyboard. ![]() |

If he truly wants to be successful with the crt crowd, he needs to review the site daily and keep up with the questions and situations that members have ( it will be time well spent for the success of his hotel) |

There is a process where a safe can be opened and closed bypassing the code. It involves removing the plate with the two screws below the keypad. I believe there is a video that someone posted on this site that demonstrates this process. It happened to me, so I believe Scubabum's account. In my case, after an inhouse investigation the money was returned to me |

When I went to the ML a month ago, in two rooms I tried the safes were not bolted down. So I bolted to the Dunn inn and won't go back. Just sayin. |

I think if you have a problem with your safe or some other problem if you tell Guy they will fix it for you. A few years ago I was staying at the Morazon and I noticed the sink didn`t have a trap so I told the manager about it and 1/2 hour later it was being fixed. My point is if you don`t let them know there is a problem they can`t fix it. |
