Reason #1, Customer Service!

Rudy has been a great host. He wants to help you in anyway he can.

Don, What a great guy all around. Definitely makes you feel at home, asks you how things went with your, trip, your room, girls, any concerns you may have and I mean any! They will give advice in your best interests.
He makes it more like a Elite Men's club for the "Cool guys", not the "older and grumpy" ones down the street. It's full of Sparky's, Chihuahua, Gerital, and Viagra, and Blue plate specials. Those same guys you see bashing CRT members without having FACTS or enough common sense to word things as it was and not seen. NO offense to that owner, its his clientel.

Matt, Wants you to explore everything about CR not just the chica exploratory. He wants the members to see other areas of Costa Rica. What a great guy, VERY smart, and another guys guy.

Staff and Carlos,

Working hard, and getting it done. Everyone there puts effort and never see one employee sitting around doing nothing. Quality, over Quantity!!

It's a great place to be and visit! I enjoy it every time. I will be back as long as Matt and Don keep it going.
It's a business so we need to bring them business and keep our club alive. That means its not a Non Profit, they are there to make money too. For the quality of the service its all worth it. The prices are reasonable with everything there. I think the food is better there too.

Enjoy, I know I do.

I made my first trip to CR last month & stayed at two different hotels during the visit. I spent two nights at La Amistad & was extremely happy with my choice. The hotel was nice & clean with a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff was very helpful & the two young ladies tending the bar/tables never stop smiling while working their tails off. The food was fantastic & truly exceeded my expectations as to what a guest would receive in an "all inclusive" special. As far as any train noise, it never disturbed my sleeping although I am a "hard sleeper".

I enjoyed my stay at La Amistad so much that I'm already booked at the hotel again in July.

I stayed here from APR 3 - 7. GREAT PLACE.

Here's a quick breakdown:

The check-in process

ME: I'm here to check in.
RECEPTION: Are you XXXXX?
ME: Yes.
RECPTION: Here's your key.
ME: Is that it?
RECPTION: Yes.

It doesn't get better than that. I was checked in and on the hunt in less than 15 mins.

The all inclusive

Guys, this is a no-brainer.

A couple of drinks at the bar and you've more than made out. The food is good, prepared to order. I was expecting a half-ass buffet, but no, it was first-class all the way.

There's even a gas-station style fridge where you can just reach in and grab soda, water, etc. all day up to a certain time of night anytime you want.

Bringing in chicas

I brought in girls at all different times of the day and night, no problem what so ever. No chica fees. The girl has to leave her cedula at the front desk when she goes up and pick it up on the way out.

The bar area

There's a full-size bar/dining area where you can chill at and plenty of tables to sit at. There is almost always somebody to sit around and chat with. The bartenders were great.

The drinks were good. All well drinks are included and there only nominal charges if you want top-shelf brands.

Overall

I also had the opportunity to meet and hang out with Matt. He answered all my questions and when I asked where the closest place to exchange money was he didn't just tell me, he personally took me there! And on top of that he gave me and my friends a tour of a few local spots and bought us drinks. Super nice guy. Thanks Matt!

Also, if you stay 4 nights or more you get a free cab ride to the airport. That's a serious perk as the trip to/from the airport is about $30.

I can't imagine staying anywhere else when I'm in CR.

Free Laundry too, I still tipped my house keeper generously for it.

How is the location? Is it close to everything or off the beaten path?

La Amistad is one block from Sportsmen's Lodge. It is about a 5-10 minute walk to Del Rey, Scores, Zona II, New Fantasy. It would be 10-15 minute walk to the Relax, Idem. Café Mundo is a block away, several convenience stores and sodas near the hospital a couple blocks away.
I would not recommend walking at night from the Del Rey area to the hotel, also it is uphill from Zona II and Scores, not sure of your physical condition, I happen to enjoy the walk. The cab ride is usually a few dollars.
If you do the all inclusive you never really have to leave the place except to find company for the day or night as the owners do not ( corrected) allow girls to solicit on the property but allow you to bring them in with you.
The people who run the place and work there are great hosts.

I think you meant "the owners do NOT allow girls to solicit on the property"

Stayed in the fall and had a great time for all the reasons mentioned here. Matt is an "above and beyond" kind of guy. But the extra bonus of staying here was, because of the club atmosphere, I actually made a number of friends, a couple who I still keep in touch with back in the states. Great plus for someone who was travelling alone.

Ive been sidelined with a bum hip this spring but hope to get back soon

I agree, La Amistad is great. Matt and Don and all of the staff are a class act. I hope your hip gets better and you can get back for more fun. (Be careful not to throw it out again in CR) :D
