Post subject: | No reservations at the Cocal - any other options nearby? |
I am going to be staying in Jaco for 4 nights 4/25 to 4/29 and was planning to stay at the Cocal. I had made a reservation through their website a couple weeks ago but hadn't received any confirmation email. So I finally call them up today and the guy at the front desk told me that they had no rooms available for Fri & Sat, but could accommodate me the last 2 nights I am there... I wanted the beach, and wanted the chicas, and now I am not sure where to make a reservation.. Any advice fellas? I hear the Cocal is where most of the action is so prefer something near it (walking distance). And I definitely want something by the beach... I am travelling solo so don't want to spend 250$ per night on a condo... Please help! |

The place right next door to the cocal (on the beach) should have rooms , take the 2 nights they still have as the place is pretty sweet and puts you right in the middle of the action , sorry I don't remember the name of the hotel maybe someone will speak up with it . |

Thanks a lot guys! I called the Cocal again today and was able to find a room for Sat, Sun, Mon nights (4/26 through 4/29) so I am considering arriving in SJO on 4/25 at noon, staying over night in SJO and then going to Jaco the next day... Since this is my first trip to CR, it will help me break into the tica scene/culture in SJO before hitting up the Cocal... Trying to get a room at the SL for 4/25 - hopefully I will be able to get it... Thanks again! |

I ended picking up a 2 bedroom condo for 1000.00 for 7 days. Rented directly from owner tho. No problem with guest. http://daystarrentals.com |

So other than mangomar, is there any other good hotel in nearby place? Something like within 2-3 kms at the most? |

omigawd wrote: So other than mangomar, is there any other good hotel in nearby place? Something like within 2-3 kms at the most? Most of Jaco is within a 2-3Km radius of the Cocal. Morgan's Cove (1) is probably 3Km and would be my first recommendation for a nice place. Cancions del Mar (2), owned by the same guy as Del Rey, is a suites only hotel that is also very nice. More of a budget place, The Poseidon (3) is nice and clean and run by an American guy. It also features a good restaurant and sports bar upstairs. If you get into the desperate phase, Copacabana (4) is an option although small rooms, high price and high guest fee put it down a few notches on my list. It does have a clothing optional pool though. Best Western (5) used to be a favorite of some guys but seems they have shied away from our market although last I heard, guests were still allowed for a fee. Not really for a solo traveller but there are a multitude of condos for rent by the day/week/month in Jaco as well. Besides Daystar, are there any multi-bedroom daily rental places in Jaco (close enough to Cocal to find find our way back at night in a taxi)? |

There are a ton of condos in Jaco rented by the day. I gave a few ideas in this thread... viewtopic.php?f=11&t=45794&p=523525#p523525 Might also check out: http://www.costaricadreammakers.com/ http://www.flipkey.com/jaco-beach-condo ... s/g309271/ http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental ... jaco/r6570 http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/ce ... renas/jaco Another nice thing about Jaco...the variety and quality of the accommodations even if they are more pricey. Biggest difference in pricing (IMHO) is due to the A/C bills in Jaco versus almost no A/C needed in San Jose. |
