I'm planning my first visit back to San Jose in several years. I used to always stay at La Amistad but I'm thinking about trying SL this time. The last time I was there I thought they only had the rooms around the courtyard up front and one wing in the back. Do they have another wing now? I've been on the website and it is ok but could use more detail. They give a pretty wide price range for each of the Modern and Mansion wings. Can somebody compare and contrast the low-end/cheapest rooms for each of the those two wings? Do the Modern wing rooms have a TV? I don't care but my wingman probably does. Thanks in advance!!! |

The website does not do a good job of describing any of the rooms at Sportsmens, and they are all very different. You can look up some threads here and on other sites for more info, but your best bet is to call and be very specific about what you want. All Sportsmens rooms have air-conditioning, mini-bar, and flat-screen TV's. |

Rooms in the courtyard are the original rooms. I like them but the furnishings are a bit dated and the water pressure can be iffy. Biggest downside is the noise during the hours that the bar is open. Also everyone in the bar can see you coming and going. The Mansion Wing rooms are awesome, most with a jacuzzi tub and king size bed. Each one is unique, check the website and reviews on this site. These rooms are a bit pricey but worth it, especially for a shorter stay. My favorite rooms for value (price and quality) are in the "Modern" Wing. Newer bathrooms and nice beds. |

This post might help: https://www.costaricaticas.com/forums/v ... =0#p431460 Bear in mind the post is a couple of years old so the prices are old. But it'll give you the general idea. mh |

Why dont you call and talk to the front desk. They speak english and give give you the best information on the Room/value/performance of the rooms. the real difference between the rooms in quiet and distance away from the main courtyard. I highly recomend the Mansion area, but you might be happy anywhere. |
