Does the Hotel Presidente allow *******? I have received mixed information on this. Can you tip lobby staff to let you take a girl to your room?

WARNING !!!! DANGER !!!! WARNING WILL ROBINSON !!!!

The only f*cking at the Presidente is the f*cking they give you. I stayed there once and before I came I called, they assured me if the girl was "dressed appropriately" she could come in. I had one come with me, nice mini-skirt, not too high, no breastes showing, a classy girl you would see working in the mall. They told me "no". i said I'll run up to my room and get a pair of sweatpants and sweat shirt for her to put on (outside). By this time the manager joined in, they both said "she must be wearing HER clothes, not yours."

The argument went on but they held their ground, I ended up taking her around the corner to one of those 1 hour sh*t-holes.

I have heard terrible stories of numerous other guys getting burned by them with similar circumstances, there are so many other great hotels, if the Del Rey is too intense for you, Sportsmans Lodge, Scores, Dunn Inn (equally classy rooms) and so many other ones advertising here or recommended here are good choices, the consensus is amongst those of us who know is that the Presidente is about your WORST CHOICE, better to sleep face down on a concrete bench in Morazon Park....that way you might enjoy the f*cking!!!!

Well, on this particular topic we agree 100% :) :) :)

DO NOT STAY AT THE PRESIDENTE IF YOU PLAN ON MONGERING - PERIOD - THEIR POLICY CHANGED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO, HOWEVER THEY WERE NOT HONEST ABOUT IT. FORGET THIS PLACE, REGARDLESS WHAT ANYONE TELLS YOU INCLUDING THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES. THEY WILL NOT ALLOW GIRLS TO COME TO YOUR ROOM.

If you're a monger, Presidente does not want or need your business. They most likely will hound you and harass you, even if you are married to a Tica and try to stay there with her.

One thing that confounds me about Tico hotels and resorts is how badly they treat their own countrymen. I have seen Ticos get kicked out of Cocal for nothing more than ordering a drink at the bar. I have witnessed salesmen walk right past a Tico looking at an item, to come up to me, when I'm just standing around waiting on a girl that I'm with to buy something.

Presidente seems not so much to hate mongers as it hates working girls.

Last client I had that stayed at Presidente wasn't even allowed to have ANY unregistered guests in the room. The client ask me to come up to answer more questions and hang out for a bit and security wouldn't allow it despite me being an obvious American.

Hey BMW...how do you get such good treatment from Ticos?? I pull up at a gas station and I will be the LAST car served (until I get out and start pumping my own gas ;) ).

The Presidente is a nice legitimate hotel about a block from the Del Rey, it also has an excellent free breakfast. I had five bottles of wine I purchased at the duty free shop, the bar staff opened all of them when I needed without a problem, not like some places I've stayed at that tried to charge me a $27 corking fee

The problem is with the chicas, and it all rests with the whims of the doorman working at the time. I had a nika by the name of Jo Ann from the Rey that had a skirt too high in the a**holes judgement, and I also was forced to go around the block to the 1- hour sh**hole. That ended it for me at the president.

Why would you your hotel more than the chica? Makes sure she does not see the transaction or she might feel cheated.

I've never had a dude try to visit me in my room at the Presidente, so I can't really speak to that one. They just seem to not so much hate the guy as they do the working girls.

As for the good treatment, I can't speak about gas stations, as I don't drive. The "BMW" is a reference to the car that ran over me about 3 years ago. I spent a butt-load of time in the hospital over that one, so now it's kind of a significant point in my life about which I try to maintain a good sense of humor.

In my post, I was speaking about hotels and resorts, as well as shopping. Perhaps in those environments, it's different. Perhaps because most of the resorts are geared towards gringos, they are suspicious of Ticos, especially when the working girls are hanging out in those places. I have witnessed a few irate boyfriends who found their girls with tourists. As far as the shopping, I think a salesman who wants to make money probably assumes that the gringo has more money than the average native. Gas stations don't face that issue, I'm guessing.

My point is that it APPALLS me when I see a Tico get treated like crap by his own countrymen in a hotel or resort bar. I understand that perhaps there have been some problems in the past, but damn... that's just uncalled for.

I don't get really good treatment so much as I witness Ticos getting treated like crap. However, I am not afraid to call out Ticos for not giving me proper service when I am trying to do business.

Cool! I'm not trying to pry into your personal life here, but I know you're married to a Tica, based on your posts here. I'd like to know what her take on this issue is, and yours as well, and any disagreements that you have had about it. I have a casual girlfriend (Tica) who occasionally will blurt out that she does not like Ticos. I will usually kind of scowl at her and say, "You shouldn't pigeonhole people like that, especially when you're talking about your fellow citizens." The irony of the situation is that her son, a 25 year old Tico, is one of the most awesome people that I have ever met. I'm sorry to pry, and if you don't want to say, then I understand.

On the other hand, the CR culture is very placating. "NO" is not in their vocabulary, and as I'm sure you know, "Pura Vida" means "it gets done when it gets done." I learned a long time ago never to put a Tico to the screws when it comes to a deadline, as all you will get are empty promises. They do this because of a desire not to disappoint. It's hard to get mad at them when you realize that you set a goal they cannot meet, but they don't want to displease you.

On the other hand, you can't put up with laziness and BS. I just bought a car a couple of days ago. This all started out with me finding the car on the internet and then going to see it. The guy immediately starts talking about sealing the deal -- price and everything. I'm just saying, "No... I need to see the vehicle, ride around in it, check it out, look at it, see the papers on it, etc." So, we finally do all of that. Then, I go to the bank to make the money transfer. Well, the details that we agreed would be acceptable to the bank were not. I won't go into detail, but it was not working. Now my girlfriend and the salesman are saying, "Just go over here to this bank, and do this and that, and it will be fine." I say, "NO! I've already sat in the first bank for 2 hours, just to have them tell me that what we already agreed upon is not going to work. I'm going home."

The salesman and my girl were both unable to understand why I did that. I told my girl, "I don't do business that way. I did exactly what this guy asked, and everything was OK. Now, suddenly, it's not OK. I'm not doing Plan B. If guy wants to sell us the car, he can bring the car to my house, and pick the money up here, and we'll sign the papers here. End of story." My girl's Mom and Dad even came over to my house telling me how I could just go do this and that, and everything would work out. I told them to mind their own business, that I don't do biz like that, and if that guy wants to sell me the car, he can come to my house and sell me the damn car. They kept saying, "Well, in Costa Rica, it doesn't work that way." I just said, "Watch and Learn."

Guy showed up the next day and parked the car right in front of my house.
