Doesn't look like interbus goes there. Any other ideas? private trans is costly. If I take a plane to Quepos, they say there are no shuttles that pick up from the airport. I was told that by graylines.
Maybe I missed one.
Thanks

If you are going to shuttle to Quepos, you can then take a regular bus to Dominical, there's 3 or 4 a day, about an hour, cheap. Should be able to find the schedule on line, if not try Queopolandia website, look for the tourist info or something like that tab on top, it has the current Quepos bus schedules. If you are going to fly in, it's a $5 cab ride to the bus station.

If you want to take a nice shuttle from Quepos to Dominical, try this company, $40 pp, 3x a day. http://www.thecostaricashuttle.com/inde ... costa-rica.

But if you were flying in, I'd bet they would pick you up at the airport there because they have to go right past the Quepos airport to get to Dominical. It would be a two minute stop for them. The Quepos airport is not a complicated mess, essentially a landing strip with a small thatched hut terminal with pull up parking 40-50 feet away. Just need to get that lined out with the shuttle people.

Another company (?), same price: http://www.supershuttlecr.com/dominical-shuttle/
The ICT site: http://www.visitcostarica.com/ict/pagin ... ses_en.pdf << it's a PDF
A site I've quoted before: http://thebusschedule.com/EN/cr/index.php
Last but not least here's what TA has to say (includes good stuff from our old pal, Prolijo): http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g3 ... _Jose.html
Hope this helps.
PS not for nothing but here's a recent Thread on Dominical: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=43702&p=499188

Yes, I emailed them for a rate and they replied. From quepos airport to Dominical it has to be a private ride. 99 bucks each way. That just seems high for such a short ride.

there is a bus that goes there and it stops at about 50 off the path pick ups between dominical and quepos.
i took it after spending one night in dominical w the gf.
she hated it there and really didn't want to spend the night. i forget what the place we stayed was called but for the price it was really low rent and bizarre.
lots of surfer folk and dead end hiding from the world types mixed in with people paying a lot of money to be there at the one or two reasonable hotels.
the beach is black sand and was really dirty when we were there. maybe it was a bad day for the area but i was really unimpressed and the girl was downright scared. just an fyi.

Then take the $5 cab downtown Quepos. But Jazz' links seemed good, though I wouldn't blame you for flying, 20 minutes, sweet.

Yep, it's a surfer hang for a particular unique wave break there, but the beach is very very rocky and the town was full of euro trash. I think Roca Verde is one of the hotels you were trying to think of. Nice place. Dominicalito a few miles south had some sand, and there's a real secluded but accessible gem of a beach about 6 miles north, and lots of private house rentals in the hills at good rates, but Dominical proper, no, not for me.

Great, looks like super shuttle it is. They have some bad reviews for no shows but ill give it a shot.
This site is so full of useful info. Its worth its weight in Chicas.

That would be the way I'd do it despite the known risks of cars and CR. So much easier and broadens what you can do x10. I'd also say cheaper in the long run unless you are willing to do the local bus thing. But even then, when you get where you are going, cabs will eat you up, Jaco maybe the exception since you can pretty much walk it, and Dominical as well, as long as you are just going to stay in town.

No traffic? 3 hs to Quepos, add 30-45 if you want to stop in Jaco for a see, pee and a beer; 45 mins more tops to Dominical after Quepos, nice road all the way. Alot of traffic cops on Rt 34 especially before and after Jaco, but pretty much anywhere, even in the middle of nowhere before and after Parrita.

Book a car online and not as a walk in and not for the days you will be in SJ--useless. I use Budget, find their internet rates the best especially as far in advance as you can. You can pick up on Paseo Colon near Sabannah and drop off at the airport without a fee if that fits your plans.

Don't know if you are flying Sansa or Nature Air, but be advised they have rather small weight limits on luggage before a fee kicks in, including carry ons, so check their websites. Nature Air limit is based on the kind of ticket you buy, from 15 to 40 lbs per person. Also, same rules apply about what you can carry on so check in all that stuff.

If you are flying out of CR when you finish in Dominical, go Sansa and that way you'll be at SJO. Nature Air flies out of a different airport--but closer to downtown--so if you are going back to SJ after Dominical, use Nature Air. They are both about the same price. To Quepos, I think Sansa has more flights.

I never schedule the last flight of the day on return because if weather comes in (unlikely in Dec) or a mechanical mess up, you are stuck till the next day.

That's a fun 25 minute flight, lots of different views, of SJ on take off, over the mountains, and then the pacific.

Im flying Nature Air. I'm not leaving CR after Dominical, however I'm slightly confused. If I fly Nature Air aren't I flying in and out of SJO? Confirmation says SJO

Nature Air, a private airline. flies out of a different airport (Tobias Bolanas), a smaller, more relaxed place; Sansa flies from SJO--the confusion comes from us referring to the greater San Jose area overall as "SJO".

If you are going back to SJ from Quepos but not leaving CR, Nature Air is perfect. You'll get to the in-town airport mentioned which should save you $10 in taxi and at least 20 mins getting to your hotel. Still don't book their last flight. The alternative later Sansa flight could be booked solid in December --I forget exactly but the planes are only 20-25 seaters?

Please post a trip report about everything you when get home, this is how you repay the board for its help, to help guys in the future.
