anyone know of anyone willing to drive me out to DR Wong's dental clinic for an appt fr NOV 15th at 9am...
or if you know a local tico with a car willing to make a few bucks on the side off the meter,... let me know

id rather save some bucks and pay someoen to drive me, than paying the meter, which could be around 40000 each way...

You could contact:

One Lucky Dog
Puravidatransport

Both members and can be PM'd

(You could also say the heck with it and take a cab - up to you, but seems a lot of work for basically a an $8 taxi ride, each way - do what you wish, just my dos colonies - its not like you need a ride to Jaco, or Limon - just sayin') :)

I believe your appointment is in Curridabat. About 4000 colones ($8) taxi from centro SanJose.

If it's the same Dr Wong that I think WiseAsh is referring to, Alex Wong, a fantastic and very pleasant Tico with perfect english, a young oral surgeon who works, worked? in a popular office in Curridabat. The office there where he works-ed on an as needed basis used to provide pick up and delivery free. Maybe he went off on his own and he has his own office now or he is working that day for another office which I know he does and we are talking about a diff location then Curridabat.

If it is Curridabat, check w/ the receptionist to see if they still are doing free pick-up/returns; that would solve all of your worries. Regardless, better double check on that 0900 thing, sounds early for him and that office. Morning rides there straight up 2nd Ave are quick, 15-20 mins tops from the gulch. If you have to cab it, make sure your driver calls the desk and knows the "address" because there is a U-turn involved.

If no longer offering free rides, it's the ride back you have to worry about taxi cost wise if you're having alot of other dental stuff done after Wong does his thing and you won't get out of the chair before 4:30 or so. Especially if it's raining. It's often a bumper to bumper thing during peak time back to the gulch from there, but it was a free ride provided to me and whomever else was ready to go and was glad for that. Often, there's 2 or 3 guys finishing up at that time so naturally they wait for everybody and go in one trip. And I speak from a mouthful of experiences.

If just normal traffic times, no biggie. Anyway, you will be happy with Dr Wong.

I did mis read it, but one of those cases when I was still correct - no way is it going to cost $80 for a taxi ride, unless its Curridabat, Nicaragua   -

I lived in Curridabat for 2 months 9 years ago, and the bus is easy and great but I'd check with the practice for transportations options.

Funny, when I read the post I thought - for whatever reason - of Dr Chen - kinda like the punchline of the old joke, "Iceberg, Goldberg......"
