Any suggestions when booking a room at hotel casino cocal in Jaco? It looks like a good place to try. I have heard some rooms are better than others. Any ideas or tips. I have partied there but not booked a room. Thanks. |

Can you help me with suggestions for the cheapest trans between SJO @ Jaco if I am not staying in SJ? Also what's the situation with banking and exchange? Also is there a place to pay the tourist fee in Jaco? I would appreciate any help. |

Nice, functional but a terrible view of the parking lot and Del Mar condo building. Then there are the pool-side rooms which are the same but a view of the infamous pool. Then you have your ocean view which look out over the beach. They also have a couple of junior suites with a separate living room area and balcony that overlook the beach. Best accommodations in my opinion are the condos. If you are by yourself, not really practical but with one or two friends, they make the best place to stay. Large living area, kitchen, dining area, three bedrooms, three baths and a balcony with an incredible view (3rd floor and higher). You would need to get from the airport into town to make the connection. For private transport, the airport to Jaco ride will run you around $100. Best place to change money is the bank upstairs at the airport which is right next to the desk where you can buy your exit tax (tourist fee you are talking about I assume). There are many banks in Jaco that will change your money no problem but not sure if there is a place that sells the exit tax in Jaco. |

I have partied there but not booked a room. Thanks. Courtyard, Parking lot $90 - 10% CRT discount Poolside $100 - 10% CRT discount Ocean Front $115 - 10% CRT discount Jr. Suite $135 - 10 CRT discount Of course the Jr. Suite is better than others. Believe it or not, the parking lot rooms are probably the quietest. At least it's been my experience. Vista Mar is the bomb and great if you have 2 - 3 people to share the room. You can exchange money at any bank in Jaco or Serivmas inside Mas x Menos 493 colones to a dollar. Cheapest transport by far is the public bus about $5.50. Keep in mine that the last bus going back to San Jose leaves at 7:00 p.m. Bubba's on the beach for a killer fish Taco. 4 mil |

If you can't get a poolside room, the parking lot rooms on the 2nd floor have an added advantage - you can sit outside your room and observe the parade of chicas as they arrive at Cocal starting around 7 PM. Try for 39 and 40, the ones closest to the stairs. mh |

Made my cocktails, sat outside in the chair, watched the women parade by and even got a few Free lap dances. Truly the best seat in the house. Good Times. |

Pay cash, dont use your card in the casino ( charges are showing up in my account ) I booked one night pool side for 90 and got $100 off my card in the casino so far an extra charge of $10 and $3 are showing on my bill, should have a head exam for using my card there. |

Booked my room for sept. thanks for all the replies. Got my CRT discount too. Had a little issue getting my email confirm tho. They kept saying I would get one but it never came. Then I found out the truth. Get this...the reception desk has no Internet. ![]() I had to write to their Facebook admin on Facebook with the problem, and bingo, got my confirm. You have to be creative to achieve your goals. ![]() |

I went to Jaco the other day and had lunch at The Cocal by the beach seating. I fell in love with the place and I am going there on my next trip to CR. it is true, Internet is only available poolside. |

Do any of you know if you can smoke outside by the pool at the Cocal? If not, do they have a smoking area or would I have to go to the beach? |

You can't smoke on the Cocal property at all (outside your own room). They do have a 'patio' that is on the beach just outside the property wall, close to where the massage table is, where you can smoke. |
