Yes, new service - announced a few months back, but just started this month - they are a great airline, but for an upcoming trip in October, I got a $210 r/t on Spirit - FLL to SJO - with selecting seats @ $28, and a small bag that they don't charge for, its still $238 r/t all in - so you still gotta check all carriers (for the average guy checking or carrying on a bag, Spirit would be more $$$)

I was messing around on the computer a month or so ago, saw the Spirit flight and grabbed it - while I don't recall JetBlue's baggage or seat selection policy, @ $270 r/t vs Spirit's $238, I would have been inclined to fly them, and not mess with Spirit's nonsense, although in fairness I can't say I've had a bad flight experience with them - something I can't say about AA, who at least once cancelled a flight from MIA to SJO at the last minute, and could not rebook me until the next day :)

I checked out spirit. They were $210 + $40 for checked bag. That's $250 vs JetBlue being $272 with free checked bag. For extra $20 ill take JetBlue everyday of the week

I booked Jetblue months ago for labor day weekend and the total with all fees was $292. Spirit was over $100 bucks more.

Once you fly jetblue it'shard to fly anyone else, even if you can save $100 on a flight I would need to have the perfect flight times

Chilimike perhaps we can start a frequent flyer program where the Chicas pay our way to them. lol They are going to get all our money we bring anyway. Perhaps charter flights like Vegas flights. perhaps the casinos could pitch in. I am surprised travel agencies have not pushed the idea.

JetBlue does not charge for seat selection, one checked bag and a carry-on is no extra charge. JetBlue also has service between FLL and MDE. The MDE flight times are not good for me (arrive MDE 7pm and leave MDE 7am).

I've flown JetBlue and had a good experience - I would gladly fly them again over Spirit - in this instance, Spirit had better pricing - I can get a direct non stop from FLL - I would not take Spirit if I had to change planes, ever.

Basically, I saw a $210 fare and grabbed it - I don't like Spirit's business model or philosophy (I've posted in detail about why previously), their "pre reclined seats" are a joke, but have never had a problem with their flights - and lets face it, FLL to SJO is 2:20; not exactly LAX to the PI or Thailand.

I would fly Jet Blue, and plan to do so - only point is to check and to add up all the nonsense - maybe I was too quick this time, although my last trip resulted in a $60 increase because I did so - with the crazy pricing models airlines use (although I'm sure they are not crazy to them  ) if you see something cheap, you need to grab it.
