Getting there is not easy. Its right behind the Intercontinental and the Multi Plaza just off the Autopisa. but as they say in Maine "You can't get thayer from heya". I suggest you take a taxi. Leaving is a snap. Once in the new hotel (Sheraton bought it pre opening from a French company) you will think you are in a Vegas Hotel. The casino opens at 6pm. The casino is something I never thought I would see in CR. WOW...sculpted ceilings and all. Unfortunately they were empty on Friday night at 8pm. We ate in the main floor restaurant and all 4 of us agree it may have been the best meal in this Country. (all had fish dishes) I'm not sure if the rooms are open yet. but I'm sure its expensive. (guess over $200/night) Check out the modern hotel lobby. For those of you on expense acounts.Sheraton should be a snap. I didn't ask about chicas but I didn.t see any working chicas. I was told they had a poker room but didn't check. |

Went by there this past Thursday night. Definitely had craps and even a live jazz band with a pretty good female singer. They were doing 50% off drink specials and free drinks if you were playing. The place had two rummy tables going and a surprisingly large number of people on slot/poker machines. We then went up and ate at the restaurant. I had what VegasBob recommended, the broiled fish in a chorizo sauce. Very good but not enough of it for my appetite. That smallish but very gourmet meal was only $20. That top floor restaurant was very well done. Private, curtained off 'dens' were available, very nice tables, a pool and floor to ceiling glass walls with views of the entire San Jose area added to the appeal. Waiter spoke perfect English since he grew up in California but he did let a 'Phuck' go in conversation which for me is a plus more than the minus it would be in such a nice place. I asked the front desk and the standard room is $200 a night for one person or $225 for two. Did not inquire about the guest policy. |
