Went to THE MONA LISA last nite it is an impressive place.
Myself, and about 13 other guys were the only customers. 10 were pokering
The poker game ,looked like an even mix with ticos.
Had a dinner in a beautiful restaurant. I WAS THE ONLY CUSTOMER
The spaghetti, a small green salad were 7500 colones
I only ate ΒΌ of it , not great.
2 girls, sat on couches at end of bar, I guess they were the masseuses?
This was a Thursday nite at 9pm. Great looking place, hope it survives!

Robert 47.....7,500 colones ($15) for Spaghetti and a small salad!?!?

I was planning to try them out on my trip over the July 4th weekend, but at these prices, I'll pass.

Bummer, this "ghost town" description has been going down since its inception. I noticed it as well when I went to visit Guy in March and April. I am booked over Labor Day Weekend and will give my report after. I hope it will be good otherwise the DI is starting to look good again across the street now that John Gomes is gone.

When I stayed I gave a truthfull report, best take away.....dont eat in the restaurant, I thought the casino did a good job, room was good and the bed was great, for members who might have a non working gf, the place makes your girl think you have changed your ways ( always staying at the sportmens and telling my girl I only stay there due to having american food, and american owner  she bought it the first few times, but when all the working girls say hello to you as you walk though the dining room or give you the stink eye while your eating dinner with her, it was time to find a new place.

I stayed at the ML in late Feb. and early Mar. it was really increasing in business while I was there. The girls would come through from the DR and SL . I pulled a few out of the ML. Really good performers.
Since I heard about a threat to DR girls not to come because of the owner of the DR would ban them it must be true. I liked my stay but I agree about the food. It was supposed to be corrected but evidently it is not the case. I really hope they make it. It is a lot more classy than the DR. The girls really liked my room and the atmosphere of the hotel. Since I am a laid back kind of guy it fit my needs perfectly.
Hope to see you soon Chilimike. I am definitely moving South to CR or San Juan Del Sur Nicaragua as soon as my Doctors clear me from this cancer stuff, Most likely January. In San Juan Del Sur I want to rent a nice casa overlooking the ocean. Most of them are 5 bedrooms or more. I probably will make it available to rent to fellow mongers if you choose to come my way. I can pre arrange for chicas to come by to party and visit. It is very beautiful and not as expensive to monger in Nicaragua. Many guys have the 3 day visa requirements this would be a great place. I could hire a good looking cook and maid. That way I would always have something available. The last time in Nicaragua . I had a beautiful 24 year old maid that gave full service . I gave her $20 . Most people only make about $5 a day working. Anyway its a plan. Pura Vida

It's a shame that the ML hasn't taken off like expected. After the opening-day special room rates, this is the reality. It looks like that, real or not, the threats from the HDR towards girls working the ML has in fact kept most of them away, and without lots of chicas on-site, the ML won't be the Del Rey-killer.

I like the ML but now the standard is $69 and if you want a king bed they charge an extra $20. For that price I could get a standard at L'Amistad and get gourmet food and drinks. They have an Italian guy, from NY, running the restaurant and the food isn't that good. Besides the soft-opening, they haven't promoted themself. Other establishments are promoting themself with specials while ML is dead silent. I like Guy and his staff but he hasn't done much to promote the ML.

cheers,
Attila

I have to ask

how in gods name is this place staying in business

I have never seen this place busy and I have stopped by the more than 17 times in the past 5 months.

I think they should get rid of George or jorge whatever his name is

the monthly nut there must be huge!!!!

They had their honeymoon period...now time for the divorce

you can't run a 100 room hotel, 60 seat restaurant, casino and 2 bars with amateurs.

the money wasn't enough, they needed hospitality professionals with successful backgrounds to make this thing fly

it was only a movie phrase......"build it and they will come"

too bad as it is really a nice opportunity for the right people

They have to lower the prices to bring the crowds in. Stupid guys will pay cien for pu*sy bit not for a room.

Hey guys! Can someone clarify if there is a chica-fee at the Mona Lisa? Me and two friends are planning a trip for September, so we are looking where to stay.

no chica fee at Mona Lisa and several other fine establishments (sportsmans, La Amistad, HLH, Dunn Inn Castillo just to name a few)

Maybe they need to get Boyd in there to get the place going.
