hi all

i am going to meet up with my uncle in a few weeks. I will be playing around san jose before making my ay to my uncle's house in boca arenal.

How would you suggest that I get there? Is there a bus or train, do i need to take a car. any suggestions?

Thanks

Billy

You should look into the La Fortuna bus. SJ terminal is on Ave 7, between Calles 7 y 9. Ask about stopping in Boca Arenal. Three departures each morning. Bus trip is 4-5 hours to La Fortuna. Cost might be $7 US (guess).

There is no train...so that one is out. Bus or car...if you rent a car get one with a GPS....makes getting there so much easier. While it is not a hard place to find there are very few signs, etc. and the GPS will tell you about upcoming one lane bridges...even about the speed bumps. Bus is probably the easiest option.

Well I thought train is best and cheapest option to go.
Go here to read more about it.

Obviously a spam post above as there is NO train that goes anywhere near Boca Arenal and that link is for sure spam.

There is bus service to San Carlos but that will still leave you a ways to go by cab unless there is a local bus that goes that way from San Carlos. Might try the bus to Quesada from San Jose then a local bus to Boca Arenal. Car rental is obviously an option just follow the advice on the board about insurance, inspecting the car before you leave the rental agency etc. Private transport is also an option but for that long a trip, would be sorta expensive.
