Just thought I would give you guys who come down here a helpful hint. If you have a unlocked quadband phone, you put a Costa Rica sim card in it and have phone service here, as most of you know. Real cheap! But did you know that you can download a free GPS app called WAZE, http://es.waze.com/?redirect=1 ? It works great here in Costa Rica and it's free. No need to rent a car and pay extra for GPS or bring your GPS down. I use it just about everyday while on the road. Also, I prefer the Claro sim card over Kolbi. I have both but like the Claro much better. Much cheaper as well. Internet is only about .60 cents a day.

Also, any phone that can run the Google Maps app can save maps for "offline" use. I don't have the url right now but do a search for "google offline maps" and you'll find how to do it. Works great in CR, and especially considering that in my experience, google updates their maps more frequently than anyone. I see their "street view" cars all the time (with the huge multi-camera mount on top) driving the roads in major cities, including outside the USA. Haven't seen one in CR yet though :)

My house in CR is basically on a dirt alleyway, and the GM app found it easily.
