Post subject:  Cocal -- chica fee?
CRT brethren:

Is there a chica fee at the Cocal? It would appear so, to the tune of $15 (each occasion?)

I am planning a trip to Jaco in September. While the Cocal seems appealing (if a little high dollar), I don't think I will stay there if they have a chica fee.

No chica fee!

That fee you reference is if you are sharing a room. Something I highly recommend against....

fee? This would be extremely hard to enforce since itS more like a hotel, where you come and go as please. No chica fees guaranteed.

Lots of hotels have chica fees since you pass through reception.

When you see the layout of the Cocal, you will understand why no chica fee. You meet a girl at the pool and bar area and walk to your room surrounding the pool and bar. You do not pass through reception. Do your own ID checking as no one is doing it for you.

Thanks for the intel guys. Mi amigo Chris Long (also going Labor Day) has contacted the Cocal and they have in fact confirmed that there are no chica fees. :P

The last time at the Cocal (a few months ago) 3 of us hired a cab from San Jose and rented a room at the Cocal for a few hours (still paid the daily rate). Our room was on the 2nd floor over the parking lot. When I brought a chica up a guard took her cedula and it was available to be picked up at the security when she left. No chica fee however. It will be interesting to see what the so called DR South doe in this regard once they run 'em off.
